Caesar's Disappointment

So I've been pretty excited for the Legion since I heard they were going to be in the game, and I absolutely loved what I got from them. But that's the problem, there's almost nothing to do for the Legion! They have five side-quests: Cold, Cold Heart, We Are Legion, that other one Vulpes Inculta gives, I Put a Spell on You, and I Hear You Knocking. Unless you count the 3 (yes, 3) arena battles and getting the girl her teddy bear back as quests. They also have 3 bases (and a cave) with any named characters, and 1 vendor (the Arizonan trader whom I quite liked). The NCR has a few times this many quests, and many many times more traders and shops, and bases, and just named characters in general. You can even take Nelson for the NCR! If you kill everyone at Forlorn Hope, the Legion just says 'congratulations', and then more NCR spawn there. Also, it felt more like you were just helping the Legion out than actually joining them. You don't get any armor and only a weapon or two from them in the entire game.

I liked the main quest, but the characters of the legion other than Caesar just are not fleshed out at all. Even Vulpes Inculta, advertised to give 'Dark Brotherhood style quests' only has 3 short quests to give.

Is anybody with me on this? I loved the game, but this aspect was just a little saddening. Felt like there was a lot of lost potential.

I wasn't entirely sure where to put this so I decided to play it safe and put it in the spoilers section

Not to diminish the rest of your post, but you can't join the NCR either. For both them and the Legion that would make you a soldier in their command structure, with the duties of such. Not a wandering freelancer.

The game takes place on NCR's side of the river, so that is why NCR has more quests.

Maybe an expansion will reflect Caesar's side of the world.

Well I suppose it makes sense that it's within NCR's jurisdiction as of now, but I was just a little sad, since the game has been played up to have three (and a half) equally viable options, when it feels like one of those was sort of ever-present while the other two, while very necessary for the game, were meant to be antagonists from the start, and as such are less complete.

I guess there aren't enough CL fans on the forums to back me up on this. :sadvaultboy:

But hey, it's better than another 'where is the NCR ranger armor' thread, right? Right??
