Caesar's Legion Assassins

I got them on me as I tried to get to Novac at level 6. After getting wiped a few times, I set it to "very easy" but still ended up running all the way from Nipton to Hidden Valley before I lost them.

Why dont you try staying in novac and getting boone to help you. That guy pwns the crap out of everything, you just need to make sure no-one gets to close to him.

You could also try getting Ed-E from primm
as far as i know he is a pretty useful companion. Youll just need like 55 repair or science, or 2 scrap metals, 2 fission batteries and a scrap electronics.

You can also get both of these guys to be your followers

Yeah these guys were tough, no doubt about it. I think I was around level 9 when they came after me outside of Boulder City. This Ranger also showed up to help me out, but they wasted him in like 5 seconds. I'm not exagerated, they literally killed him in about 5 seconds. It took me a few loads but I finally got the best of them. Here is how I did it. First DO NOT let them come up to you and say there little spiel. Attack as soon as they appear. I hit them with a couple of incindeary grenades while they were still grouped together. Then I loaded up on chems Med X, Jet, Rebound, and drank a few Sasperillas so I would be constantly regenerating a few hit points. Then I ran around some rocks to get the guy with the thermal lance thing away from the ones with guns (for a few seconds at least), you have to kill him first or you are done. So I put a whole bunch of 10mm bullets in his face, then I just duked it out with the rest of them and kept using stimpacks when my health got low. It was a tough fight but not unwinnable. A couple of other strategies I would recommed, try running backwards dropping mines as soon as you see them coming, since they pretty much run single file towards you this would probably be pretty effective (I didn't have any mines at the time, but I always carry some now). Also, if you have a Flamer or Incinerator, those usually work pretty well against groups of tough enemys (don't use VATS just hold down the trigger til they are dead or you run out of fuel). Hope something here is useful, I hate those Legion douchebags.

same thing happened to me on hardcoe when I ran first fought some legion guys trying to free some folk from them. They wasted me every time, I believe I was right around level 7. Was playing on hardcoe. There was nothing I could do either, I tried laying down 20 mines, explosive tactics, I mean I tried everything lol.

Eventually I decided I was fighting a losing battle, so instead of engaging the legion that early I used a stealth boy and freed the captured people without being detected (and they just walked out lol).

Now that I'm around level 15'sh I don't have too much problem bringing down the assassins. Then again I have 2 followers//mercs with me and I think they do more damage than I do LOL! so yeah, those legion assassins are no joke

Man that place is rough...

I got 'em at level 7, but... (big spoilers in spoiler tab... just warning)

Spoiler
I have the wierd west perk, and thus had 3 holy hand gernades. I blew Dominicus (or whatever he is called the big bad melee boy) up with one ran behind a rock, and popped a stealthboy. I sniped the other named guy with an AP round to the head. Then I put on there cloths, and murdered the rest in there sleep. I still feel bad about doing it that way, but... hell it was the only way.

When I went back to the nuked town to turn in my dog tags Astor asked me to scout out the town, but said don't get caught they will rough me up... I told him I already took care of them.
Then Astor stated "You are a beast, son". took most of my regret for murdering the troops, and turned it into pride :D.

I don't think a line from a video game has ever made me feel that way before...

Go to Novac and place booby traps under the bridge "mines"

which is to your left when you exit the town go down the far right road backwards the T Rex statue should be on your left view
after going far enough go back to the underpass "the bridge" toward the left side where your mines should be

the assassins will spawn and be coming towards you
if done right you'll take almost all of em out leaving only 1 enemy for you to take out with some frag grenade

I got attacked by them at level 4 or 5 -- I ended up just reloading a save game from before I got them mad at me, after I determined that I was in no shape to deal with them (I have wimpy armor, and am nearly always short on ammo). Note that I was so proud that I was able to take out a few of the normal Legions, no more than 2 at a time, with some trial and error. The assassins make the normal Legion seem like pushovers, which is really saying something.

Same thing happened with me after rescuing the survivors from Nipton. I was Level 7 at the time but got Level 8 when I killed some Legion Recruits (they were standing around near a billboard)

I must've died at least 6 or 7 times before I finally defeated them. I tried using explosives, bullets and even tried glitching in a rock but that didn't help (they started using explosives!).

In the end I won by a sheer stroke of luck when a passing merchant caravan was passing by, I got them spawned and before they even became hostile I threw a couple of Frag Grenades (they really do some hefty damage now with good explosives skill) and led them over to the caravan, little to say, the caravan was utterly destroyed, still it helped as I popped a few 5,56 AP rounds into their heads from a distance while they were distracted. After the caravan was gone I used the pack Brahmin as a litteral meat shield and continued to throw as many Frag Grenades as I could. When that ran out, I had to use Dynamite which it used almost 3/4 of them (I think I had about 50 sticks or so) before finishing up with some .357 and .38 spl. rounds from my modified .357 revolver. THAT was a challenging yet somewhat fun experience.

The second time it happened I had some unexpected help, of the Deathclaw variety. I was racking up some high XP in Quarry Junction as a Level 8, I was standing on a rock right in the middle of the quarry, when I see 5 guys wearing red dresses run across the open expanse. Immediately donned a Stealth Boy when saw one of them carry that Legion flag and watched the carnage ensure against 5 legion assassins and a horde of deathclaws that included the Pack Alpha. Least to say, it was probably the funniest thing I've ever seen

Ive had the Exact same problem in Novac man! They're extremely tough and ED-E gets wiped out in seconds, Im about to get Boone as a companion and from what Im seeing in the forums he's really tough so hopefully he'll help me take em out. If your planning on taking these guys on have alot of amor piercing ammo with ya cuz they ALL are armored.

I only fought them once at a low level and it was tougher than most fights but still not hard. Now at level 14 I can smoke them all without a problem.

Game is pretty easy even in hardcoe mode unless you run right to the tough areas.

the best solution is to not piss off the NCR or the Legion early in the game, that's what gets you the assassins. So reload to a save before pissing them off. It's the only realistic solution too. since your character is pretty weak at the starting of the game, you can't expect to survive hardened professional assassins.

I'm really wondering how you managed that, I'm level 20 and am not on friendly terms with the Legion but I haven't had terminator-assassins assail me yet.

This is why I'm only doing NCR quests that don't impact my reputation with the Legion. I plan on playing both sides until I actually get a good feel for who's going to help the wasteland more... and once I get my hands on some power armour. ;)

After the 47th attempt, I finally was able to defeat the almighty assassins from cybertron. I used up all but 3 of my grenades from my launcher, at least 3 stimpaks, 2 super stimpaks, 2 med-x, 4 sunset sarsaparillas, 1 tasty brahmin steak, and a partridge in a pear tree. The last guy had a little bit of health and was closing on me fast (like Usain Bolt fast), so I had to ditch my grenade launcher and reached into my kit for my brass knuckles. It was satisfying to defeat the baddest man on the planet with a few well placed knuckle sandwiches. Hopefully I'll be a little higher level, and better equipped next time I run into these clowns.

You should post this in the your first epic moment thread.

See, that's why you don't piss off The Legion lol, The NCR sent some Rangers to kill me and they said you have 3 days, to which I stated "No we end this now!", they declined, which I found as an insult.

So I hopped up on a concrete building/slab type deal and shot one of them in the back of the head for 1/4 life [sneak crit], then I turned (taking cover) and shot a pack of golden geckos, which ran towards me but had to go around the long way (and into the Rangers), long story short, the wasteland won my battle for me. :fallout:

Haven't had anymore rangers approach me since (I think they're scared) but I've taken out 2-3 Ranger camps in the hills and stuff so I'm not too worried.

Btw. Sniper Rifle Crits are crafted from Win.

Level 8 and so far these assasins are only hitting me 2 at a time. Armor definitely helps and I'm going to have to start stocking up on mines.

Add this to the reasons I love NV.

Did you try to be a noble guy? You just made a deadly enemy.

Did you try to be a selfish guy? You just made a different deadly enemy.

Were you diplomatic and generally a [censored]? You get to live, but you'll feel guilty from sins of omission for all of your life.

dont worry they dont show up to much i believe.. just find a energy weapon before the next time you see em.. go PEW PEW on their asses

I had experience with them today, at lvl 3 it was *run to location for quest, find 2 assassins, kill them barely* *go back to ncr camp for reward, leave camp and find 3 assassins killing everything* that was over a spanof 10 minutes... You see them alot. Once is enough, I had to reload.

Spoiler

I have a feeling you killed Vulpes Inculta in Nipton. I did this and i got assassin's before i hit Novac. Can't kill them all.

I did this too.

I had no mines and a crappy weapon so I do what all people do in that situation, yell momma! Then I ran and let other people deal with them, sort of.

My very first encounter with the Legion, in the game were that hitsquad who for some reason was sendt to kill me.
I don't know what I did to tick the Legion off but a couple sticks of dynamite, hefty use of cover behind large rocks and the lever action shotgun I managed to get before hand, turned them to mincemeat.
They were tough as nails though.

I'm level 18, vilified by the Legion (from pretty early on) and have yet to have Assassins sent after me. That's strange. I have actually only seen them once:

Spoiler
I was heading into Vegas from the east when I heard shooting. I looked out over the desert and 3 Assassins were chasing a NCR ranger. So I was like hmmm, I'll help him (I was level 8 or so). I took out my Cowboy Repeater and unloaded on the first guy outside of VATS. Obviously this sent them after me. I reload, not very worried, and go into VATS as they approach, realize I didn't even scratch the guy, notice that my CR takes a sliver of health off him, and think "See, this where being a nice guy gets me." The ensuing fight was composed of a lot of running in circles, tossing grenades and dynamite until I had none left, svcking down doctors bags left and right because my head would be crippled from one spray of the leaders 10mm SMG, screaming to myself, "Die! Die! Why won't you die!?!" and running behind the Ranger over and over again hoping they'd attack him instead of me. I had two killed but was on the verge of death and decided to find a strategic advantage up a hill (i.e. ran for my life) and my final assailant got stuck on a rock. At that point the Ranger and I unloaded on him from a distance and he finally went down. For my efforts the Ranger came up to me and gave a Radio to call for help when I need it. I have yet to us this though because I keep forgetting I have it.

That's the only time I ran into to these guys though now I'd love to because I'm well equipped to handle them.
