Caesar's Legion Assassins

Post » Thu Dec 17, 2009 8:47 am

I did a quick search regarding this, but didn't really find anything that helps me out.

So I'm level 7, and I'm leaving Novac. I get jumped by 5 Legion Assassins. At first I think these guys are going to be like Talon Company from FO:3, you know a nuisance but nothing too bad. I couldn't have been more wrong, ever. They quickly dispatch me, so I reload and try some different tactics. Again, I'm quickly defeated. So next time, I try chucking every bit of explosives that I have in my inventory. I might have crippled 1 leg before getting annihilated. I try running around and letting the locals help me, but they aren't effective and die quicker than I do.

At this point I decide that I need some help. So I quick travel to Mojave Outpost thinking "surely a whole base of NCR can wipe out 5 assassins." So I waltz out of camp, down the hill and trigger these guys. I run as fast as I can back up the hill, dodging bullets and I hide behind the barracks (all the while I'm screaming like Ruby Rhod in the 5th Element). I see all kinds of NCR and other NPCs running around, and it's basically world war 4. I duck again for a few seconds before deciding that it would be nice if I help finish these guys off. After all, I'm the one that dragged these guys here. So I pop around the corner, only to find these same 5 assassins (more like terminators) running and shooting at me. The NCR is laying dead all over the outpost, and I do what I can for the last 3 seconds of my life before they put one final bullet into the bloody pulp that used to be my body.

I did this a few times, and even dropped the difficulty as low as it goes. Same results. I don't know if anything can kill these guys. Anytime I try to leave a town, they pop up and end my life. I can quick travel to other locations, and the same thing happens. These guys seem to be many levels higher than me, and even the other NPCs. At this point I wonder if my game is broken and I need to just make a new character? I don't really know what to do.

Has anyone else run into the 5 horseman of the apocalypse?

BTW I'm on 360.

What in god's name did you do at level 7 to get assassins after you??? The world of New Vegas isn't scaled so I'd imagine you'll need hefty help to kill them.

Yes, and they were about as effective as a fly hitting my car on the freeway. This last time I used my Mercenary Grenade Launcher, and managed to kill 1 guy. The others still destroyed me and the NCR outpost.

With out posting too many spoilers...

I managed to stumble upon a mission in a certain town that asked me to rescue some people from some other people and I might have killed 3 or 4 people belonging to a certain faction in the process. Besides that, I haven't done anything to them.

I had two after me... guess I was lucky.

After five attempts I finally dropped a mine, and crippled there legs... after that I ran far enough ahead of them hid behind a rock, and popped a (insert that drug that makes you invisible that I can't remember its name here), and then stepped out, and capped 'em both in the head.

If I had five... man that would be rough.

*edit*

Frag Mines... I collected, and sold 'em for caps in Fallout 3. I could not live without them in NV... Those buggers save me so often its not funny.

After the 47th attempt, I finally was able to defeat the almighty assassins from cybertron. I used up all but 3 of my grenades from my launcher, at least 3 stimpaks, 2 super stimpaks, 2 med-x, 4 sunset sarsaparillas, 1 tasty brahmin steak, and a partridge in a pear tree. The last guy had a little bit of health and was closing on me fast (like Usain Bolt fast), so I had to ditch my grenade launcher and reached into my kit for my brass knuckles. It was satisfying to defeat the baddest man on the planet with a few well placed knuckle sandwiches. Hopefully I'll be a little higher level, and better equipped next time I run into these clowns.

I'm in the exact same boat. I'm level 6 and I killed the legion at Nipton. Now these guys show up and MURDER me no matter what I do. I've travled everywhere to avoid them, I've tried running away, it's just game over man. I was able to kill them ONCE. It took me 10 minutes, 12 stimpacks, 2 doctors bags, half my food, and all my ammo. When they were finally dead I was so hurt and had used so much supplies it wasn't worth going on. I'm honestly stuck. I just can't bring myself to start over. Unless this gets adjusted, my game is over. I got the "got brutally murdered by assassins ending".

Last nite my biggest compliant was sodas made me more thirsty. Now I could care less. I just want to be able to play for more than 10 minutes with out getting utterly annihilated.

This good sir is the greatest thread in the history of threads. Aside from some stories from the Starcraft 2 forums that talk about "A day in the life of ".

Lol dude this is hilarious, try setting up lots of mines and other traps before they get to you (I'm sure after dying this many times you can tell where they are coming from) after that just wait out the inevitable.

Yeah, I had to take a couple runs at the three they sent after me. Talk about dead-eye shots from anywhere. I had a surplus of dynamite, so they got most of that flung at 'em. then I finished them off with the old trusty repeater. However, now that I think about it I should have really bought some different ammo. Not like I'm hurting for caps. I actually enjoyed the challenge though.

I'm been vilified by the Legion since sometime early yesterday and they just now got around to sending a three man squad after me, luckily for me before leaving the Strip that time i decided to leave my service rifle in storage and replaced it with my newly repaired hunting rifle, after killing the lightly armored two with my increased mag 9mm pistol I used my custom bolt hunting rifle to take down the heavy in about 5 shots (on very easy), weird thing was that at first the heavy was using a hunting rifle but then took a 9mm SMG off his buddy's body but when i checked his body he still had 10 .308 rounds on him. The 9mm SMG could'nt even get though my reinforced leather armor, NCR google helmet, and level two toughness all equaling up to about 18 DT.

I feel your pain. I was this close to restarting from scratch, but I felt I already put in a decent amount of time to start again. I forgot to mention that I had ED-E floating around, distracting these guys for the 2 seconds that he could. The poor mercenaries and brahmin didn't stand a chance.

Seriously though. If all it takes is to kill 3 or 4 of those skirt wearing dolts for them to declare us the greatest threat to their empire, and thus unleash the legion of doom on us, then they are more insecure than a 14 year old girl.

Armour definitely helps in this Fallout. Kit yourself up sufficiently to ignore small-arms fire, and it's a LOT easier to survive assassins and such. I was attacked by a group of them today, just after rescuing those two from Nipton (and killing their guards) and it was pretty much trivial. But I was wearing Ranger Patrol Armour (DR14 in the state it was in, IIRC) and sport a couple levels of toughness too. I generally ignore pistols, get close to people with big guns and insert shotgun slugs into their heads. Armour doesn't protect your face.

Once the threatening targets are down, the rest are just a mop-up job. I'm playing on Normal, too.

Body shots seem to me to be a little under-powered, or light armour is overpowered. Whichever. I think it's great that heavier armour makes you immune to small-arms fire, but you can get too much damage mitigation out of leather I find. It's just silly for some guy in football pads to be able to eat two full clips of 9mm rounds and still be running around.

Yeah, same thing happened to me. I'm playing on hardcoe, so I stop by Goodsprings to get a nice, cool drink of water. After my dehydration goes down, someone gets my attention, and some Legion guy is telling me that Caesar has marked me for death, and I was pretty much gunned down on the spot. This is probably because my rep with Caesar's Legion is Vilified, but still, its a little harsh. The only way I dispatched them is by taking out an Incinerator and quickly burning up every last one of the assassins before they gunned me down.

same thing happened to me on hardcoe when I ran first fought some legion guys trying to free some folk from them. They wasted me every time, I believe I was right around level 7. Was playing on hardcoe. There was nothing I could do either, I tried laying down 20 mines, explosive tactics, I mean I tried everything lol.

Eventually I decided I was fighting a losing battle, so instead of engaging the legion that early I used a stealth boy and freed the captured people without being detected (and they just walked out lol).

Now that I'm around level 15'sh I don't have too much problem bringing down the assassins. Then again I have 2 followers//mercs with me and I think they do more damage than I do LOL! so yeah, those legion assassins are no joke
