Cait's body versus Curie's bodyclothing

Post » Fri Jan 15, 2016 7:01 pm

So I LOVE Cait. and I love Curie. But I love Cait more.....as her personality just suits my character better. I hope I don't offend anyone with this post as I really AM NOT a Male-Chauvinist Pig! But having said that I am about to have a detailed examination of their physical beauty as I see it.

I use this clothing mod replacer for Cait:

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3981/?

And I have my Curie in a new Vault 111 suit and this mod:

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4908/?

I think Curie looks PERFECT as suited above. I mean va-va-voom 10 out of 10 perfect. I also give her eyeglasses and the Military Beret.

When I put this outfit on Cait she looks TOO SKINNY. Her butt IMHO is too small/flat when wearing the 111 suit. I once put Piper in the black BOS Officer's Uniform and she also looked drop-dead perfect (looks much like Marvel's Black Widow). When I put Cait in the same outfit she looks like a malnourished anorexic model! So far the only thing I've found for poor Cait to wear and look great in is the modded corset. And in that I think that she does look fantastic. Coming from an 850+ hour Skyrim player I would have expected Bethesda to use the same body models for all female companions but it's obvious from this that they are NOT! Although come to think about it Beth DID use a more petite body model for Seranna than they did for Lydia and company.

That's what the stereotipical junkie is supposed to look like.

Yeah, she's suppose to be a junkie! So her body represents the nourishment she has due to her drug addiction.

Well yeah....but she doesn't look super-thin in her default outfit.

If you want her body to not be so thin, you can plump it up a bit with CBBE and the Body Slide mods. I've been playing around with that lately, and it's great.

I tried CBBE....didn't work on my install. All it did was turn Cait's shoulder BLACK.....looked like it was missing a texture or something. I never did figure out what was wrong so I uninstalled it. Should I try again?

Curie has this do gooder walt disney mickey mouse attitude like valentine, codworth, preston and such.

Cait has her own personality at least when travelling with her you dont have the impression youre followed by some kind of walking "how to behave" guide.

And she look nice and like alcohol :foodndrink: win / win situation.

I'm using CBEE, but I'm a little bit reluctant, as far as bodyslide goes. Does it offer the opportunity to changer individual NPCs?

Make sure to install with Nexus Mod Manager and install the vanilla clothing as well. I had the same problems. Black patches, until I did both of the above. Guy gives pretty detailed instructions. May bad, I didn't read them first time round.

I had the same issue with the black spot, but there's a compatibility patch for various outfits. The outfit that you have Cait wearing may or may not be included in these patches though. Load order makes a big difference too.

It doesn't change specific NPCs, as such. What it does is change specific outfits. As long as you have the NPCs wearing different outfits, you can customize each one to your own taste.

edit - To elaborate a bit more, I did a setting for Piper in the Proto Vault Suit. Since the Proto Vault Suit changes all Vault Suits to the design, Trader Rylee and Tina De Luca (both recruitable settlers who wear Vault Suits) are affected by the same customization. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because I tailored the setup to my own tastes, but it could be seen as a drawback by some.

Cait seems to have more curves on her lower body compared to Curie and Piper, so I think if I stuck Cait's head on Curie's body model she'd look thin. Cait is just hot, and I love that they don't all have the same body model. Curie is perhaps even thinner than Piper? Don't really notice as they wear different outfits, but Cait has noticeable bigger hips. Or maybe it's just the pockets on her corset which give that impression...

Have to run bodyslide on the outfits to get rid of the shoulder patch.

How you tell is to have them all wear the same thing. If you do that you should find that Curie & Piper are built better than Cait.....much more hip/butt - if you like that sort of old-school traditional look. And I do.

Yeah, until you cure her of her addiction then all she does is complain every time you use a chem.

I also use the Busty Grrrl mod from the Nexus and I put Cait in a Gunner Harness.

I think we can all agree that sometimes the companions can be frustrating. An inability to stop trying to walk through a wall, their complete disregard for your line of fire or a total lack of engagement controls when you are doing the silent sniper routine all add up to characters you constantly curse and often want to shoot. And while I've heard many praise Cait and her playing loose with ethics, I think she annoyed me more than most. "I wouldn't collect that stuff, I'd chuck it." I got this nagging over and over again. How I wished I could retort with "That's why YOU are the follower, Cait - you're as thick as a bag of wet sand. Or, "Did it ever occur to you that you ended up a junkie in fight club entertaining raiders because you are stupid and the last thing I want to hear are your recipes for failure?" Nope, not this one either.

In the end I really fell for Curie. Looks aren't really important because there are several mods around that can alter the appearance of any NPC but the advantage with Curie is that her nagging is both delightful and funny. Some of her rarer comments have you stopping in your tracks and laughing wondering if she really said what you thought she said. Her character has a super cute naivete that is enhanced by her french accent and the fact that she once was a robot gives her some measure of leeway in regards to not grasping what I am doing or what I need her to do. It's understandable whereas the nagging from Cait and to a lesser extent from Piper, is not. As for not liking any of their reactions to good or evil these can be altered with very basic edits in FOEdit or you can install mods that change them.

No, you only have to download and install the vanilla cloth set. Found with the CBEE package.

I'm not letting myself use any mods until after the official kit comes out.

Just vanilla, I prefer Cait in looks and personality. Granted Cait's personality doesn't fit all my role-plays, some do prefer Curie, but overall I really like Cait.

I'm disappointed that Piper's didn't have any kind of personal quest. Curies was interesting and Cait I thought was great (and very difficult if you try to clear out Vault 95 at low level).

LOL, yeah cause I'm not having fun at all right now. :P

I like 'updating' it all at once making like a whole new game. But honestly even with MW, FO3, OB, FONV and Skyrim I didn't mod that much. Generally just updated graphics, unofficial patches, etc. I never liked adding much else. Much later (like 1000+ hours later) I'll add mods that add NPC's and such. Nothing lore breaking or anything.

I'm following mods now in Nexus and once everything is in place and we can add mods without having to edit the .ini file I'm sure I'll be adding some.

OK..so I went back and tried CBBE again. Got it working...the INI thing is a HUGE pain though as even after making plugins.txt READONLY I still have my esps UNCHECKED half the time! WTF?

Anyway I carefully made a bodyslide build to my liking and applied it to the outfits that my Cait and Curie wear. Naturally they both look pretty fantastic nvde. But with the outfits ON (current favorite is the Nanosuit mod) Curie STILL looks MUCH better body-wise. I'm not sure how Beth is doing this but obviously Cait has a more petite shape with thinner legs and hips than Curie's model no matter WHAT I do with CBBE/Bodyslide. These tools are new to me though maybe I just don't know what I'm doing?

Get NMM or FO4 plugins manager - ideally both. That way, you can check your plugs in the interface itself and get all the options, the mod offers.

Are we really having a conversation about a pixelated video game NPC? I think I will stick to oggling real women, even though it is now politically incorrect to do so :)
