Calling all artists and writers: Brink webcomic?

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 3:54 am

A Brink webcomic doesn't seem too far-fetched, does it?

It's doable. Awkward Zombie used to just be about the Smash Bros. cast living together in an apartment and fighting awkwardly (!) occasionally.

I'd love to see the Resistance and Security portrayed as hilariously incompetent, i.e., an Operative accidentally firewalled a Pepsi vending machine instead of a vital command post.
That, and there are always Failed Parkour gags to be had.

Anyone up for the challenge? I can write and sorta draw, but those abilities go down the tubes when I'm trying to actually accomplish something cool with them.

Sounds pretty tempting actually. I'll try and draw something up later on but I don't have a scanner so the quality might not be very good.

Cool idea! I'm pretty terrible at the illustrative part of graphic design, otherwise I'd love to have been a part of it.

Has anyone noticed that all the people offering to help are the same to be working in the up-coming Brink Machinima? This group is gonna end up being the next Roosterteeth I just know it.

I can draw! Actually I'm taking a 2D graphic course in college next semester. I can draw on paper, but I don't know how to translate that onto a computer just yet, but hell yeah, sign me up! I can draw cartoons, but I cant draw realistic.

If you plan on taking graphic design as a serious job, get a tablet (they're expensive, unfotunately). That's how you do drawing on a computer. A mouse on MS-Pain doesn't cut it in most cases. It's also advisable to torrent or buy a copy of Photoshop C.S. or a later Photoshop. Mess around with it until it feels comfortable, and then start looking up tutorials on Google.

I hope it helps.

There's the tablet option, and then there's also the option of scanning your work onto a computer... coloring it before would be easier but probably not as effective, or after you've scanned it you could color it with a program like Photoshop.

Not so much. For starters: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wacom-Bamboo-Pen-Graphics-Tablet/dp/B002Q4U4AE/

That's not bad, actually. To me it seems you have quite some imaginatio; which is essential if you want to draw.

Thanks man, that picture is actually pretty old but all my new stuff is in paper-form and I don't have a scanner.
I'll try and get something more recent up later.

I could probably help out on occasion. My work, family, and other responsibilities would prevent me from being able to do something consistently. But, I've done http://vaporman.deviantart.com/ in my past.

Sounds like a pretty nice idea.

Would there be a possibility of using In-game screenshots for comics, maybe even vidjas?

Haha.... For some reason, I'm imagining the Operative as a short, spastic guy who's addicted to Mountain Dew and will do anything to get his fix, including parkour-ing across enemy territory to their vending machine.

In my head, the Engineer is an obsessive gamer who is always trying to "overclock" the command post for no apparent reason and has built several turrets around his Playstation 3.

The Soldier really just loves blowing random stuff up to see how they look when they blow up. Think Mythbusters, but with less walrus moustache.

And the Medic is secretly the most badass character on the team who knows kung fu or something.

And that's just one team, mind you.

I assume the operative will be The Bug? it fits him good.

And the engineer would be The Bomb?

GRRRR! I know, I kept hearing it through this Borderlands playthrough on Youtube, and when I saw it as Riktofen's signature I can't stop thinking about Borderlands. :swear:
