They've said it was an outside factor, and just because "Anonymous" didn't take credit for it doesn't mean Anonymous did it. Anonymous isn't a coordinated organized group. Just because some members sent a statement saying they weren't responsible doesn't mean other members of Anonymous did so.
Rumor has it that a small number of people from [censored] found what is basically a backdoor to Sony's PSN, that can't support much traffic as normal access does. These certain people flooded this backdoor with massive amounts of raw data, and tore apart the servers. It shouldn't have been down more than a couple hours, at most, but from what I've gathered, Sony is completely redoing their servers, in light of the two attacks, to make it harder to take down their servers. It looks like it'll be done in the next week, at the most.
