Camera Shift When Shooting

Ok, so here's the deal. I got Fallout 3 on launch day. I was one of the lucky ones who got off without any serious bugs. I played it for ages, and over that time it developed a few small errors, visual glitches, songs repeating incessantly, deathclaws randomly falling out of the sky, you know, the usual. I went on to play some other games after thoroughly cleaning out the capital wasteland several times over. Then, one day, I thought I might play it again. When I started playing, I noticed there were more problems than ever. Then, in the middle of a gun shootout, I found the camera began to switch between third and first person whenever I shot my gun. It didn't matter what gun I was using, it flicked between both angles every time I clicked the mouse. It wasn't persistent; it would come a go as often as the wind. I didn't worry about too much; I'd already played Fallout 3 to death anyway, and New Vegas would be coming out soon. I figured it was just because of the errors in the code and let it slide.

Fast forward to playing New Vegas, and I find myself dealing with the exact some issue. I'm pretty sure it isn't a problem with the computer; I've had both Fallouts loaded on two completely different computers and they both have the same glitch, which is weird, seeing as a brief search in this forum indicates that it isn't a problem anywhere else, or at least not widepread enough to warrant an influx of similar complaints. Strange that the exact same problem would happen to me on two different games, even if they do both use the same engine. It isn't extremely game-breaking, although it means that when it happens, the only practical option in a fight is to use VATS; the reticule shifts slightly each time the chamera shifts, and it's otherwise fairly diorientating. It's mainly just the randomness of the whole issue. It's not repeatable in any way I can fathom; as I said, it comes and goes like the wind. Still, any advice would be greatly appreciated if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it.
