That was one of the most outlandish OP i think I have seen to date (and ive seen some crazy things on forums). You do realize that a FPS and a third person shooter are completely separate entities right? I understand how Brink being 3rd person would be cool to see all your customization but its NOT its a FPS. Plus you just make yourself out to be a super GOW really devoted fan by saying how awesomely epic and perfect GOW third person is. I have played and enjoyed many third person shooters (RE4/5, Most socoms, Lost planet, vanquish, etc) but I also enjoy the FPS. Third person has its flaws just like first person does (really easy to camp or pull BS moves because, well you can see around whatever cover you are using).

I just don't understand how you could even think that that type of logic makes sense. Its like knocking on chick flicks because there's too much romance and not enough explosions, violence, and curses. Both genres have their positive traits and negative traits but they are still two completely separate genres.

do you even know what FPS stands for? asking that this be 3rd person would automatically eliminate it from being a FPS. Also the problem with a lot of video games today are people like you that only want copies of their favorite games (ie call of duty or gears of war)

Zillions of games where you're running, climbing, vaulting, hopping, sliding etc. are in third-person view. But it's a unique experience when you implement that parkour style into FPS - Mirror's Edge proved that. Add that to a solid team-based, objective-based shooter and you're getting one cracking gaming experience.

That's the problem, those zillions of games don't get the mechanics of that 3rd view the way it should be done. There is a sweet spot between 1st and 3rd where 3rd feels like 1st. But, if you don't have the MECHANICS of the character ( in the detail on how he moves) so that you can still experience that unique parkour movement then forget it.
No game is perfect, someone will find something wrong int his game or any game. This game looks so good and I'm sure it will be, from my 20 yrs experience gaming, that's my two cents.
And no female characters in the game!!? F***ing morons!!!

They have a very valid reason for this, if your going to rage at something please check why they didn't include it before said raging.

Its not even that. Its the simple fact that Brink was developed, designed, play-tested, and soon-to-be-released as a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER.

Nowhere has Splash Damage EVER indicated the game would be an over the shoulder shooter.

The fact that the OP wants to make it into an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT GAME is why he is being accused of trollism. To be frank, why not just make it an RTS? Better yet, I want it to be My Little Pony : Brink the platforming game with card collecting to raise monsters.

Its an FPS. Get over it.

No raging here!! Just chillin' with an observation and conversation. Although, I don't see why no female characters.

I wish they could change it to be an RPG with turn based combat....

But seriously OP, if you want a good class based third person shooter, check out Monday Night Combat.

It was either extensive male customization or weak customization for both male and female. They chose extensive male customization.

Second, TPS are geared more towards tactical play because the third person camera allows you to walk up to a surface unseen and "look around" for your target before you stick your head out to fight.

A mechanic which I actually dislike in TPS. You should have to stick out your head (like the GTA IV cover system allows you to do) to see what is around the corner. As long as you do, everything happens in real time. But when you get your head back behind cover, everything goes grayscale and you can only see people's positions like in Splinter Cell: Conviction after you've gone stealthy again.

Nothing breaks the immersion of a game more than third person view. The first time I meleed someone in Monday Night Combat and had the view pop out and show the animation in 3rd person I puked a little in my mouth. First person view is the greatest thing in gaming since mouse look.

First person = You are the character
Third person = You are puppeteering a puppet

Well, I am on the other side of the fence. FPS usually make me feel like a gun hovering around. TPS make me feel like I am playing a character.

Your definition of Third Person is quite accurate, though, because it's like being a child playing with action figures. As a child, you'd imagine you are the action figure. That's how TPSs work for me and that's how they increase my gaming experience over FPSs.

Gears of war isn't an FPS, it's a shooter.

FPS stands for "first person shooter"
