Camoran, Cameron?

Why does everyone write Mankars last name as "Cameron"? Is this an alternate name for him or something?

Oh, I see. Weird though how every other person seems to spell it that way. :P

The Cameron thing probably comes from people misreading Camoran and thinking the more common word in its place.

People also write Solsthiem.
I have noticed an 'ie'- 'ei' inversion seems common among people for whom english is their first language.
I have no idea why this is. Probably a phoneme thing.

It's because English has no clear-cut rules for when 'ie' or 'ei' is used. So they fall back on what they were taught and that's to prefer the 'ie' thing.

German makes much more sense. Is there an 'eeee' sound? 'ie' Is there an 'iiiii' sound? 'ei'

Camoran is similar because (American) English pronunciation tends to swallow up the vowels in the middle, blurring 'er' with 'or' and, less commonly, 'ar'.
