Campaign For Leafy the Dragon (Bethesda show us that you car

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 3:14 am

Ok I kind of got this idea from another post, but the idea comes from this post

I want to show that Bethesda are listening and I don't think this would be to hard to include in Skyrim or to ridiculous and immersion breaking. So vote for leafy and we'll see if Beth are listening in 11.11.11

Please feel free to post comments on what you think of the idea, or other ideas for Easter eggs anything to keep the thread near the top and get as many votes in as possible.

They should have it in the game but dead, in a funny place like "Wurst Troll Evur"

It'd be hilarious if they put in a "dragon" called leafy that was green. However instead of a REAL dragon it was simply some little kid wearing an (obviously) fake dragon costume and he told you his name was the forum name that said beth never listens to it's players.

Kidn of similar to how WoW put in that WoW "fact checker" character after that video spread of that one guy at blizzcon correcting the developers on their own lore.

I think it would be hilarious with a subtle reference.

Just to put a cork in the naysayers' mouths.

They could make the name 'leafy' in dragon language and players would have to translate it to get the reference. That way if you are not paying too much attention to the game you will not have your 'immersion' broken. Besides, I bet they already have 'Puff the magic dragon' in the game, and if not they better get crackin' on implementing him!

I voted "Yes" just so I can laugh in everyone's "Bethesda used my idea!!" face when it's not included.

Seriously, Todd doesn't need to your help. He's a clever guy.

I tired of trying to muddle through the quoted post in the original post.
I don't want a dragon named Leafy. Dragons need badass names, Leafy doesn't cut it.
Also, people demanding things tends to irritate and put me off, and I am pretty sure that emotion is common.

Because the game needs a hundred other things besides a dragon named Leafy.

Because we know that Bethesda is "listening" to us, it's just most of the time they ignore what they hear, occasionally with good reason, and occasionally without.

If they were to acknowledge this inane idea, while ignoring other, much more meaningful ideas, it would actually damage their reputation as "listeners" to anyone who has half a brain cell. "Oh hey look, this group of fans has a great idea for such and such a feature that existed in previous games/has not been seen in any ES to date. Unfortunately we don't think we can manage that. But look! This group of fans wants a dragon named Leafy because ANOTHER person said that the chances of us including any of their suggestions was as likely as us including such a dragon. Let's do it, gang!"

Bethesda do listen. They've included references to things from these forums in the past. Where do you think M'aiq's fishy stick quote in Oblivion came from?

However, they're not going to take demands for easter eggs that people want in a game. An easter egg is a humorous encounter or an obscure reference to something that people wouldn't expect to find while playing. Demanding that they put something that you want in the game just kills the whole point.

I think that Leafy the Green Dragon is a perfect Easter Egg.
Not pointless.

I want Leafy to breathe flower petals instead of fire.

I think it would be a good line from M'aiq, but nothing more noticeable than that. IMHO, TES is not a series that lends itself well to easter eggs like that, it's too serious. I already trust that Bethesda listens to us, and some of M'aiq's lines from Oblivion prove that already.

I support Leafy the Green Dragon given the story behind it. I imagine it would probably be best implemented by including a book that a child has written about a fantasy dragon friend named Leafy or something to that effect. :P

+1

I could definitely go for that.

-----------------

sigh and yea, putting Leafy in could very much turn into a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicked_problem later down the road. The second the right person/group finds Leafy... you get "OMG Bethesda... You catered to those idiots by putting in that stupid dragon and totally ignored my weapon swagger idea that would have totally saved your stupid game from hitting the bargain bin forever!!1!!!11!!!! I HATE YOU... HATE YOU... HATE." Though you could argue that there is a big difference between the time and resources on texturing a few words to an inn's sign and some totally awesome play mechanic.

As far as Bethesda listing to "demands" like this... what? I'm kind of lost here. Is this a serious demand or a fun idea? Because I thought it was the later.
