Campaign length (among other factors)

Well left 4 dead only had 4 maps, and all the maps had the exact same objectives. Only difference was survivor or zombies, survivors always try to get from A to B, zombies try and stop them. BRINK has twice the maps right off the bat( not counting the what-ifs), with different types of objectives on each. Add to that the different factions having different story lines, and the different experience you get from each class lead me to think that BRINK will have a lot of replay value. Not to mention that there was no progression to your character / weapons in L4D except finding the 2nd level upgrade in each level.

Just in case there are L4D fans out there, I loved the games. Wasn't trying to spread the hate, just saying why I thought they didnt have as much replay potential as BRINK.

On a basic level, its the same objectives in Brink. Defense, obviously defends, offense has to protect a certain class, this certain class holds a button to plant a bomb/hack/repair something, then move on.

Yes but the objectives aren't as basic as in L4D, once you take into account the fact that different classes are needed to preform the various objectives as well as being able to develop your character BRINK has a lot more depth. Not saying that it cannot ever get old, just that it has a lot more variety. In L4D there was no character progression, you got to either be a chick, an old guy a black guy or a nerd all of whom could heal (if you had first aids). There were not very many abilities that you had to master to beat that game which is part of way it got old so quickly imo.
I feel that by the time Im bored of BRINKs first maps SD will have some more ready to release, assuming they keep their promise of continuing to support BRINK.

The real question is why are you so upset that they didn't add DM? sounds like you're suggesting that the only right way to make a game is to include it.

Id rather the developers invest their time and energy into making a quality game in their vision then putting out a rehashed game mode that is available in practically every other fps on the market.

Yup thats what im saying TDM is so simple, that to get a game right u should just have it

Devs can take pride in there vision all they want, everyone would STILL play through objectives and story mode, but if you want the game to last longer than three months you better put in the meat and potatoes that ppl can fall back on

And YOU would still have the OPTION to not play DM at all

.....conformist............
