Campers

in COD or halo its about getting kills but in brink since its objective based it would be pointless to camp because you get a lot more exp by doing the objectives

defending is not camping.

camping is hiding in wait for easy kills

defending is anything but easy kills, because the enemy knows where you are and will try numerous tactics to remove you so they can proceed.

the first is cheap, the second is a gameplay element of this very game.

The thing is some of the maps have alot of vertical movement, i think a light with a short rifle should be able to just SMART up to ledge and get to work.

Call it what you will. But if you stay still, watching a certain area, waiting to kill someone, I will call you a camper.

So if I am in a room with a squad of buddies who are protecting the objective with turrets and C4 and guns aimed at entry points - you'd curse under your breath when I killed you because you'd say I was camping? Even though it is obvious to you and all your teammates where the objective is and that there will be people defending it?

"WHAT!? People are camping the objective! They should be running around aimlessly throughout the rest of the map! Ahhh, campers!"

I don't even see how it is up for discussion, but whatever. I will camp the [censored] out of objectives though, so be warned.

defending is not camping.

camping is hiding in wait for easy kills

100% correct.

defending is still kinda camping because you are not really moving around a lot

So just because you're not moving that automatically means you're camping? Refer to my reply above to ItalianDevil ..

I don't think you 2 know what "camping" truly means ..

There will always be campers, no matter what the game is. What makes Brink different is that they probably won't be successful.

There will always be successful campers.

But perhaps the numbers won't be as insanse in BRINK as in other games.

Indeed. I've been a very successful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8WQzqTTwbI as well, with two-shot & three-shot sniper-rifles and a semi-auto assault rifle.

I suspect that camping in one location will be largely ineffective, partially due to the high freedom of movement that the SMART system grants, defenders shouldn't be standing still either, they should be moving around within their area and check the perimeters constantly, and perhaps launch a counterattack if the attackers are slowing down/have been stalled.
Standing still as a defender is the perfect way to let attackers dial in their grenades and grenade launchers so that they can hit you from out of sight.

Of course, if you're on a secluded high location with one or two ways to reach it, and have equipped an accurate scoped weapon, you will probably be able to provide fire support for a great amount of time if you're sufficiently accurate.

Camping as a negative connotation hasn't really existed since quake III. There are so many ways to kill people with the arsenal presented nowadays in games, if you got killed, you weren't playing as well as the person who killed you. If he threw a grenade by accident and killed you, yeah, that was pretty cheap, but if he found a spot where he can kill people without getting tagged himself, he is playing the game better than you.

The only people who whine about camping now, are the people who lose to it. I think most camping is a fun challenge to get around and outsmart the camper.

In Brink, even though it isn't kill based, if someone finds a good camp in a hall leading to an objective, and all they do is kill your team over and over again? That's being a team player and helping their team achieve their goals.

Games are too diverse and complicated to blame losing on things like "camping."

I'm pretty sure I've read in GI that it's already been discontinued and no longer has any product support.

As people have said already, http://forums.gamersfirst.com/index.php?&showforum=629 have picked it up. Originally it was a full-price title published by EA and developed by Realtime Worlds (Scotland based, btw.; lots of good stuff coming from Europe these days), though.

You have a pretty sweet Jericho.

I had. :(

At least I'll get http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7482/apbrevofinancial.jpg back; hopefully.

Unless you're far away from the front lines, but so high you can see the enemy.......or maybe at an objective holding it down.........or around a corner can get you 2-3 kills......

camping will absolutely not work because theres no sniper or one shot kill weapon and small maps too

You can't camp with a sniper rifle that's why it's called a sniper rifle and not a camping rifle.

You sit in a secluded, hard-to-reach and/or hard-to-destroy spot and you pick off people with a sniper rifle. That's usually the definition of camping.
