Can't add new land textures

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:26 am

Got a problem with adding new land textures (1024x1024 pixel). Doesn't matter wether tga or dds, I always get returned an error message saying "invalid texture file directory". I can't even add a vanilla land texture. All terrain textures reside in folder "Textures", same is with my new ones. I remember from a long time ago that I had the same problem, but I can't figure out how I fixed it back then!!! :(

Here's an old http://forumplanet.gamespy.com/morrowind_cs_general/b49689/20049123/p1/ that indicates it might have to do with the length of the path name.

I already tested that and it has no effect, even the vanilla textures, which should have correct numbers of letters don't work. Must be something else!!! :(

EDIT: Got it!!! Problem seems to be that land textures for Morrowind are hardcoded in the game, you can't add new textures with only Morrowind.esm as masterfile. With bloodmoon being released, there had to be new land textures, because it is 99% snowy terrain. So I loaded all 3 esm and added a new texture without any problem. Man I could have tried this a 100 years and nothing would have happened ever, LOL!!! :)

That's really weird, because I've added new land textures with only Morrowind loaded, or with none of the default ESMs loaded. It shouldn't be limited to that, because either way you're using the Bloodmoon version of the CS. Did you restart the CS or something in between attempts?
