Can't Afford A Fallout Life

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 5:32 pm

Can you guys please put to glitches back into the game? I can't afford Jack in this game anymore. I've been selling all the stuff I don't use, but I still can't afford anything. Shipments are WAY too expensive as well. I can't afford to arm myself or arm new settlements.

Seriously?

I've never used any of the bugs and because of a lucrative (and easy to set up) water purification empire I've got more ammo than I can shoot, more salvage than I can use and more caps than I can spend.

If you haven't heard about how to do this there are any number of threads here to tell you how.

How is that possible? I have well over 100,000 caps and never used a glitch.

Also search item dupe..

And I think you're trying to get too much...like arming all your settlers...focus on yourself first, barter with or sell stuff you do not want/need..

People have also mentioned farming water generates a lot of caps as well..

It's because it's a convenience, instead of scrounging for materials yourself...just like in real life, you pay more for convenience...

Plastic and fertilizer provides you with Jet, add that to a few water farms and you should have all the cash you need.

Caps are still to easy to come by in the game.. I'm not swimming in them like I was in previous Fallout games, but they're plentiful enough.

OP, might just need to limit the expensive shipments you buy, to those you are having a hard time finding. Most of the time it's far cheaper to buy individual items, you'll get a far better caps to resource ratio. For example I buy every telephone that I can find on my current character they cost 7 caps and scrap to 2x Circuitry, 1x Copper, and 2x Fiberglass.. that's a great deal ! I do however occasionally buy Wood shipments but they're pretty cheap.. but I'm still more inclined to buy items like pencil (1x Lead, 1x Wood) for 1-2 caps.

I never used any of glitches to earn caps. I simply sell weapons and sometimes armor to earn my caps. Armor's selling price / weight ratio is not as good as weapons in general.

Build a "water farm" excess water will go into the workbench every few days. Simply taken 'em and sell 'em. When I cleared out Starlight Drive, I simply built 4 water pumps and every few days I would stop by to pickup 7 - 11 purified water. Since then I have developed into a settlement with 2 industrial water purifiers (40 water each) and several settlers.

That reminds me... I think I will install around 10 water pumps at Sunshine Tidings and just let 'em sit there. I have no plans on developing that settlement yet (if ever).

If you want to farm some XP and potential loot to sell, then go to Skylanes Flight 1981 crash site. It respawns every time you go there (well.... at least on the PC version).

There are legitimate in game mechanics that allow you to almost effortlessly make a ton of caps. Honestly I think exploiting the glitches is more work than doing it legitimately.

Go to Sanctuary and set up as many of the industrial water purifiers as you can. This will start pumping a consistent supply of purified water into your workbench. This water can be removed every few game days and sold to the various vendors around the Commonwealth, and you can make a ton of caps. This becomes even easier if you have vendors set up at your settlements. Unlock Local Leader 3 and Cap Collector 2, and you can set up level 3 trading stands, and invest an extra 500 caps into them. If you have level 4 vendors running the stands and invest the extra 500 caps, each vendor should have around 1300 caps on hand. Every time I sell my water supply, I walk away with about 6000 more caps in my pocket. I'm currently sitting on about 90,000 caps and have very little to spend it on.

There's the Dogmeat item duplication glitch and other things like that, but honestly I think that's far more work than simply doing this. With the Dogmeat glitch you have to sit there and keep duplicating items over and over. With water purification, you build it, go play the game, and come back a while later to collect your water and sell it. This seems like far less work to me.

OP, if you're having trouble getting decent gear for your settlers, just hit the Gunners up, they equip themselves with pretty decent weapons and armor. Just Google their locations, make you a plan of attack, get yourself a companion and loot the crap out of them. They also respawn after a certain amount of time, so there ya have it, an endless resource of weapons and armor.

Really? Drugs, purified water, excess cooked food, pre-war food, ammo and on and on and on. I have never used any exploits or dup exploits at all and have never had any problems with caps in game. I also tend to junk just about every weapon and item I can.

What are you trying to buy that is so expensive? I mean shipments are only a few hundred caps each. Of course, I also make sure that I get the wasteland riches perks and the "more ammo" perks early, so, maybe that extra 10-20 caps in just about every container helps.

I hadn't thought about it.

I hope you figure a way out of your problem though. I'm sure these forumers will have some great suggestions.

You wanna make money?

It's really rather simple.

Drugs, and water. And Mutfruit. Mutfruit has the highest value of any crop, and from what I hear the lowest weight.

I don't use many drugs unless something like a Behemoth or a Deathclaw decides he wants to tusssel, so I find myself with a massive amount of Buffout and other chems gathering dust.

Having a decent Charisma also helps, as that assists in barter prices.

Purified Water can be farmed from settlements with a water purifier, and the water is deposited into the workbench.

Stop buying weapons to arm your settlers... just keep the loot you get from killing enemies when you do quests.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I didn't even know about the water trick. I have some shops setup, but it seems to take forever for them to put caps into the workbench. I never understood how people always had so much more money than myself in games, especially since I sell everything I don't use. I've even gotten to the point of selling legendary items I've picked up and never use.

I have not noticed much money generated by my shops. In one particular settlement I have three level 3 shops and after maybe 4 days I checked the workshop and I only saw 28 caps. There are a total of 12 settlers and happiness just 84.

They are mostly there to increase happiness and is a convenient way for me to sell weapons and armor.

I'm puzzled. To be honest I seldom if ever buy anything. I just find everything I need. The only exception was my guy that used auto-weapons as he went through ammo pretty fast, but he could just trade in pre-war money or some other junk to get the shells. And drugs, my PC's never use drugs so selling them is easy cash.

Only issue I have is early on having a lack of adhesive for crafting. Setting up a farm generally ends that shortage once I find the right crops.

5mm ammo, that and fusion cells are my go-to barter tools.

I always start by not using the minigun in concord, just pick it up and get the ammo, boom! over a thousand caps right there.

For me (2 cap collector perks - for building shops) Fusion cells sell for 3 caps each, and I almost always have over a thousand of them.

I didn't catch that when I read through the OP, he is buying weapons for settlers........you should loot more than enough weapons to re-arm your settlers and generally the attacks on settlements provide lots of armour and weapons that can go straight to your settlers without you having to lug them in from elsewhere. Buying weapons should be rarity, buying weapons for settlers is really unnecessary unless you're rolling in caps.

I love it when people complain that they now have to actually play the game as it was intended. Go play GTA if you want cheats.

Sanctuary is all you need to be rich.

  1. Get Sanctuary's Workshop working

  2. Build a lot of water purifiers (more than 1000 points of water)

  3. ???

  4. Profit

Or, just do

player.additem f 9999999

Or, after killing the raiders and abominations, make sure you take everything on them, then sell it to a trader. If you haven't done so already, install the mod http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2832.

Anyway, it's quite hard to take OP seriously.

You seriously think they are going to put a glitch back in the game?

just build a water purifier settlement and collect and sell water every few days....all the money you will ever need.

If you need to glitch to make caps then you fail in Fallout Life. Go back to GTA5. I have 90k caps now all from selling purified water, crops and Jet. I buy shipments of concrete and wood every time I see them available too.

Yup. My newest is only level 15 and she's at 40K+ in caps just from selling drugs, purified water and miscellaneous non-junk, non junkable items and pre-war food and she is constantly buying shipments of this and that.

I don't even bother with the purified water thing that much, but out of curiosity, how do you sell all that water? Everyone I run into usually only has 3o0-400 caps.
