I mean meatbags are overrated anyway. So let me help the toaster army to take care of them.
Anti hero is someone who is someone who doesn't have typical heroic traits (law abiding, moral, courageous, kind, and/or many others) but is still the hero in the sense they are the driving force for the redemption of the story if not themselves. Think Marvel's Wolverine. If you side with 'evil' you are not an anti hero you are a villian.
I'm not convinced there will be a major evil plotline that will pursue dastardly malevolence to a scripted conclusion.
But at least you can be a total ass,
at at most I think you'll be able to set the world on fire.
This is where the game's forced player voice becomes a problem. I may take this back when I've played it myself, but so far it sounds to me like the male's voice is a bit of a "nice guy" and not indicative of a villain.
Do the dialogue options exist for me turn my pre-breaking-bad Walter White into a post-breaking-bad villainous Walter White? Maybe. But from what I've heard so far, it doesn't seem so.
no really i been playing voice player since ME and u can still be [censored] as a voice protagonist
Yes, you can be a anti-hero in the game.
However, in a story like this, there isn't really a "good" or "evil" side. I also always have a problem with people throwing around "good and evil" like everything is black and white. Bethesda games rarely have villains who are truly evil in the sense of the word.
I personally hope you will be able to "side" with the Institute somewhere along the way. And if you can, I'm sure there will be people who will claim you're "evil", because I'm interested in seeing how it would play out if you do side with them.
Anyways, "good" and "evil" is nothing but subjective view we have been taught by our family and environment. And being an "anti-hero" is no different. Though, I would love to be a Bryonic Hero.
Classical anti-hero or 90s-style antihero?
To me, the anti-hero is an outlaw, who's done bad things, sometimes REALLY bad things, and is no angel. Think most roles John Wayne has played. He's no knight in shining armor, but he does what he has to, for the people he cares about.
An anti-hero is still a hero, at least in the eyes of the people he does the good for.
I think the anti-hero is a bit tropy; I'll be doing an anti-social hero. He is intelligent and recognizes this world needs help and people deserve a chance... he just really, really, really doesn't like talking to them.
"Sure, I've shot a few traders in my time. May have even sacked a settlement or two. At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, and your backs against the wall... I'm the one you want watching your back."
I would certainly like there to be an option to be "evil," but I don't want it to be plain black and white. While the Institute will certainly have nefarious intentions, I don't want them to be a stereotypical evil Enclave-esque faction.
I'm sure whatever it is they are doing, they feel is the right thing to do.
After all, the Enclave felt it was the righteous thing to do by cleansing out the "mutants" of the wasteland so that the nation could be rebuilt.
I think the Legion were pretty damn evil. If the Legion are 9.5 evil on the 10 scale, the Enclave are somewhere around a 7.5. Did they want to poison the CW? Yes. But, Edens is just trying to reestablish American government control; lest we forget, they are, in fact, the pre-war government in hiding. The Enclaves belief that most humans are abominations or impure are hardly different than, say, people who hate synths. *shrug* And, that's not necessarily evil.
But, the NCR also has member that want you to irradiate an entire settlement as vengeance for a Legion attack, so. To me, the Legion represents Mad Max, Immortan Joe levels of screwed up.
Alduin and the dragons who follow him are not really "evil." They are arrogant and view everything below them... and thus they have the right to do whatever they want with those who they as being below them. Which isn't much different from how both humans and mer see everyone and everything else.
Mehrunes Dagon isn't "evil", he's chaos incarnate. And while a lot of what he's done involves trying to invade Tamriel, that seems more spurred on by the fact that mortals have been repulsing his attacks time after time, which makes me view him as a classic "I'm going to get revenge on you" character done more out of spite rather than just being hard core evil.
And John Henry Eden? He's not evil at all! He's no different from the Master in Fallout. He's doing what he thinks is "best" for humanity as whole, which is wiping out every "mutant" and leaving only the "pure" humans left. Misguided for sure, but evil? Nope. Some of the most vile and "evil" ideas have sprung from people who think they are doing something good for everyone.
Your examples aren't examples of "evil", they are examples of beings with a different point of view from our own. Yes, I think Alduin is "evil" based on my pov, but if I had his pov, I wouldn't say that. That's the same for Mehrunes Dagon and John Henry Eden. Good and Evil is all based on our perspectives.
