Can anyone explain something to me?

Post » Thu Jan 29, 2009 7:24 pm

I'm in armor mode, shooting at someone. I shoot 40 bullets directly into their chest. They don't die. I get shot once in the head and die. The kill cam shows them firing a single bullet. It hits me in the head and I die.

Does armor mode not protect against head shots? Why are they able to absorb so much damage and not die? Even if its not a head shot. In armor mode I can get shot 5-7 times and die. While I'm using the scar and pumping rounds into them and they don't die at all.

What's the catch, what am I missing?

Armour mode isnt the same as Campaigns Armour mode, it only allows you to take more damage not make you invincible, don't know if this has answered your question, could also be the other player was host of the game.

No, it didn't answer my question.

I think it has a lot to do with lag as well... What you see is not what necessary an enemy sees. It's the same for all peer-to-peer FPS. Having said that there must be a serious multiplier for headshots, because you kill people a lot quicker hitting them to the head. So to answer your question, I think that it isn't the armor not working, it is a combination of lag and high headshots multipliers. Can someone more knowledgable confirm this? Are headshots x2.0 compared to bodyshots?

thanks

He probably shot you with a short burst that all hit you in the head... but in the kill cam it only shows the last slow-mo bullet that ended your life.

all the above.

Head shot in Multi = Insta-reap.
remember that you are only wearing a helmet in multi that is not necessarily part of the nanosuit. You're wearing an economy version compared to the campaign suit. ;)

Also, about the 40 shots. There are a couple of things to consider. Were they in armor mode? Did they have an armor multiplier perk? (gawd-aweful tank mode. :) )

And then there is lag and/or packet loss:
If you are playing someone with a ping that is 80 or higher/lower than yours, you are going to experience a little bit of lag and who pulls first makes all the difference. If there is packet loss, (which seems to becoming more common these days and harder to detect) you are definitely going to have issues.

Packet loss is just like what it sounds like. The information "packets" that your computer sends to the game server gets "lost". While this is fairly infrequent, all it takes it the packet that is sending your firing data to "drop" (or get lost) and the guy you are shooting at has the advantage because he probably won't be dropping packets. Anyways. That's how that works in a nut shell.

that help a bit?

If someone is in armor mode and you're shooting him in the mid chest or lower area your shots do considerably less damage, you need to hit them in the upper chest or head.

Also the nanosuit does not protect against head shots in multiplayer.

Head shots do 2.2x more damage if i am right. Not sure but i could also be that the Helmet doesnt have armor, so it cant go to armor mode?

That'd be a pretty big design flaw in a billion-dollar nanosuit...

What I'd REALLY liked explained to me is why that Plasma Rifle from Warhead isn't standard issue to every grunt in the armed forces. You'd think after Lingshan it'd be all "OMG CEPH!! Crank out the Nanosuits, Gauss and Plasma Rifles!" at the Pentagon.
