can anyone help?

My game keeps freezing when i use magic. It doesnt happen every time i use magic though. It generally happens right after i quicksave, it also happens if im holding something then cast say telekinesis on that but that may just be because u cant hold and telekinesis something anyway heres my load order would any of these cause it? or is there a conflict of some kind? Thx for ur help in advance.

Don't quicksave.

That is not a cheeky response based on what you said (like "It hurts when I do this" "then don't do that!" :lol: ) but a suggestion based on many reports that quicksaving is problematic.

The best alternative is to use the Streamsave feature from Streamline - which is a good idea to get anyway.

I've rarely had any problems using Quicksaves, no more so than using Streamline in fact. Auto save works fine for me too. Occasionally I'll end up with a corrupt save but that's usually because the game crashed while it was saving. If you do end up with a bad Quicksave, all you have to do is delete the current one and start a brand new one.

I heard Deadly Reflex users often have such problem. Perhaps you'll need to search for the hotfix.

Thank you, i didnt remember there was one, it was at the bottom of the list on tesnexus, anyway ill try it and see how it works. The hotfix actually gave me a new error lol, idk if its gonna be problematic, if its a big error, but it said to report it so i did, ill try the temp fix and see if it at least stopped freezing. It seems to have ill post if it didnt. Thanks for ur help.

Alright same load order, but now its crashing every so often, it may be the bug with the hotfix but the hotfix got rid of the freezing, so is there anything else that would cause crashes or is it because DR is just a little too buggy?

OBGE? and i think MMM is the latest version. i installed it yesterday, unless they upgraded the one on TES since then?

Screen Effect uses OBGE.DLL. It is in the OBSE plugins folder. Remove it and put ShadeMe's fixed v2 DLL in there. You should seriously update MMM though.

Im pretty sure my MMM is the latest and the greatest. what makes u think it needs to be updated? and i looked up shademe and i dont see the OBGE thing

Hmm i dont have 3.7 i have 3.5 wheres 3.7? its not on tesnexus. nvm got it on planetelderscrolls

i got shademes thing do i put it in the folder with the original one or do i get rid of original and keep his?

I said see the opening post of the Oblivion Graphics Extender thread. As for MMM, are you using v3.7b3?


Edit: I wonder if I am missing some plugins. I do not remember seeing Diverse Creature Skins...

What is BSA? ive only done omod and manual installations? what does BSA installation change? and do i need to install a different way? and for OBGE do i get rid of original or just put v2 with original?

BSAs are just compressed archives. Why do you ask? They do not change the installation. Treat them like data files. As for OBGE, delete the one installed by SE, and just add the v2 DLL in that same folder.

thanks, and i was asking because it was in BSA and i'd never done anything with BSA before so i didnt want to mess anything up but an omod i can handle i like omods :P

BSAs are just packages of data files. You have at least six (or ten if using SI) in your Data folder already.

I think that that is the case for most Oblivion users, so no worries. ^_____^


Edit: Right now, I am kind of reinstalling at Oblivion, which make me wonder at myself since I will be building a new system with Win7 tomorrow. I'll have to install Oblivion yet again. I just finished my third install for today. The reinstalls were for information gathering purposes, but still... Man, I need to defrag my hard drive...

Do u know an easy way to uninstall my previous version? full version says i need a clean install, i have the omod version if that helps

Just deactivate the OMOD then. That is part of the point of using utilities, easy mod uninstallation. Manual installation is not that bad once you are used to it, but the uninstall can always be complicated and crazy.

This might be helpful until you have a year of mods usage under your belt - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes4Mod:Acronyms <-- You probably will not need a year, haha...

Heh ive been using mods for far longer than a year, i had mods on Morrowind, but that would be a ton of help.

thx for all ur help uve been very helpful, dang thats a lot of esp's to sort through, but u were right there was no diverse creature skins in this one, probably standard now, or they just got rid of it idk

lol yea, Martigens Mutant Mod :P, and unfortuanlty ive had Oblivion mods on my game for over a year too :P

ah nvm i just couldnt load in a dungeon but now my imperial watchmen are yellow diamonds. haha well the women are, the men are floating weapons and heads :D , just had to load a new cell and its better. but i cant use diverse imperial armor makes yellow diamonds

Check for missing masters, missing requirements (i.e., OBSE) not rebuliding Bashed Patch, need to regenerate the Oblivion.ini

Post your load order if you want more specific suggestions.

now all the MMM creature are invisible so idk,to install it i just copied everything in the new MMM and pasted it into my data file i have all the esps i think my active load order is, would deleting a esp from OBMM delete anything related to it as well? i deleted some to clear up some of the ones i didnt think i would ever use, like no rats, no reavers ect
