By "dark side" I am of course referring to mmo gaming.
As the community includes a lot of players who have probably never looked twice at an mmo before.
Do you think you will be converted by Zenimax's efforts?

me personally? no but thats because i have long loved mmo games. easily the most fun and longest lasting games for me. will it convert people who never played an mmo? of course though how many is the real question
The community also includes a lot of players who do not consider MMOs to be inherently evil
Remember, every MMO player I've ever met has also been a single player gamer, although the reverse is not necessarily true... still there is a huge overlap between the communities.
maybe more if we give out cookies over here
Alright , you have 3 threads, 12 posts, and all have been subtle and non-subtle mmo vs tes posts. Stop trolling please.
not trying to troll.. I just thought that's one of the things elder scrolls is going to achieve with this game bringing more players to the mmo community...
Every month I'd give out cash for a game that wouldn't stay fresh,
so instead I'll stay with Diablo 3, to satisfy my mmo needs for free.
And with money I keep every month or few I'll buy a single player game anew!
You know the saying, "there's a first time for everything".
In my case, I had never played an MMORPG before WoW... I was aware that the game was in development for some time but I wasnt really following it that closely, and wasnt planning to play it, but once it had launched it caught my attention and sure enough the temptation to give it a try proved too strong, as a big fan of the RPG genre (particularly of D&D games like baldurs gate & neverwinter nights) and generally a fan of all Blizzard's games to date.
Im sure there are a lot of future players out there who are only dimly aware that ESO is being made and coming out soon... well, the game is going to get a lot more exposure once it launches, and it is bound to attract the curiosity of people who have played any of Bethseda's more recent RPGs like Fallout 3 or Skyrim.
I dont believe in the distinction between 'single-player gamers' or 'MMO gamers'; I think that most players are perfectly capable of enjoying both styles of game, and it is just a matter of the right game coming along to broaden their horizons... for some players, ESO may be the game to finally introduce them to the MMORPG genre.
Diablo 3 is as much an mmo as Skyrim is a first person shooter.
Heck, if D3 is an MMO and money is your main consideration, then you should be playing Path of Exile. Don't even have to pay for the box
Personally, one reason I am HOPING ESO lives up to my expectations... is that I know from experience that it is a lot cheaper to play a sub based MMO than to keep buying SP games As for staying fresh, remember... massive monthly content updates Yes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, but I am totally gonna be proving that pudding.
this is what i keep saying. 1 sp game = 4 months of ESO. if this game holds my attention as much as previous mmo games i will be coming out a head
I have played plenty of MMO, mostly free but ended with wow who I played for a bit over a year, at the end I was bored and only raided with guild, then the guild fell apart and skyrim was released.
Comparing the free to WOW explains why I prefer an subscription model.
ESO appears to be another jump up, I could not go back to F2P games after WOW and I can not go back to WOW now.
An important difference from single player games. having a good guild with friends is the key to having fun in an MMO, one of the benefits of multiple guilds in ESO is that you can shop around a bit. it should also allows for multiple purposes.
Depends: Skyrim has been cheap entertainment for me, so was Kerbal space program
On the other hand the failed games has not been cheap, games who look nice but has terrible gameplay. Tomb raider with quick time events for combat pretty much top the list.
It's a massive multiplayer online game, but you can call it whatever you fancy.
I've done my share of MMO gaming, the best MMO I played was WoW.
The reason I enjoyed WoW so much was because of the lore, and exploring the locations that I had heard of/been to in the previous games.
I'm probably going to drop ESO once I've done every quest, dungeon and raid. The MMO scene isn't for me, it's too much work if I want to enjoy it at the level I would like.
Once I understand the game completely and have explored everything it becomes boring.
very small portion of PC Skyrim gamers have never played an MMO game.
trust me, when ESO launches and people play it, they will be happy about it.
my personal expectations for ESO is that it has huge amounts of endgame AND every month ends to a event where we the gamers get one DLC level update for free. (ie, new raid instance +areas).
we shall see what happens.
High chance I will do this myself unless I stay because of the company, that is staying because of a friendly guild.
