Post » Thu Dec 10, 2015 11:24 pm

I am on level 45.

And I have lost the ability to build ANYTHING!!!

Anyone have this happen to them? If you have did you find a way to fix it?

There is a trick you can do to lower the "build bar" to be able to build more. To my knowledge it works on all platforms. Go to a settlement with several guns, the more expensive the better, and drop them all on the ground. Then go to build mode and store all your guns in your workshop. You will notice your build bar go down. You can repeat this action as many times as necessary.

You hit your settlement built limit. See posts above for work arounds ... or just stick with what they wanted us to use.

To reduce the SIZE bar in a settlement just do the following.

  • Bring a bunch of weapons / armor you were going to scrap / sell to any settlement you want to lower the SIZE bar.
  • Drop the items on the ground within the Settlement build area.
  • Enter build mode.
  • Either Scrap or Store the dropped items to the Workbench.....SIZE bar decreases as you do this step.
  • Repeat at each Settlement (you can even use the same items over and over if you just store them).

I am guessing there is a reason for the size limit. Considering how buggy the game can be anyway, I prefer not to take a chance on more bugs.

It's probably mostly for potential performance issues on lower-spectrum rigs. If your rig can handle it, probably not an issue otherwise. I've used the manual-scrapping-increases-size-limit thing with multiple chrs. and haven't had any (obvious) issues from it.

But I've been lucky enough to not have any major bugs/crash issues, either, so...ymmv. :) Can't speak towards mods, either, haven't used.

Thank's for the replies. When you say drop the stuff on the ground, I assume you must pick them up again to store them?

The size bar is only 30% full . I have completed the Nuclear Option with BOS , Institute,

and Railroad. I am now trying the Minutemen.

But all they want me to do is help the same people many times,

And build Pumps , Beacons , etc

As I can't build anything I am kind of stuck.

If the size of the settlement bar is only 30% full, and it tells you that you can't build anything any more, then you do have a glitch. Are you sure it's not that you are lacking build materials?

The items don't necessarily have to be weapons or armor, you can use mods and junk as well. :)

If the SIZE bar is only at 30%, then this has nothing to do with the limitation. Note that if you do not have the materials in the Workbench storage (or in your inventory) to build an item, it will never show up to be placed. Also, you do not automatically share resources with other settlements until you set up supply lines (that require level 2 of the Charisma 6 perk, Local Leader).

As far as I know, it works on all platforms. I would be careful of 2 things:

  • This will obviously allow you to build MASSIVE settlements that could overly tax the system hardware. On a stout PC, that shouldn't be a big issue, but I have no clue how it could affect the limited resources of a console. Make sure you save before trying it.
  • If you reduce the SIZE to or below zero, you will crash the game when you exit the Build mode.

My console is X BOX ONE . Yes I always have the required materials to build what I need.

The last thing I built was the guns at the Castle, After that , nothing.

This is most annoying , I don't really like the Minitmen, But wanted to play all the endings.

On a different subject, is there a map available. I don't see an explorer perk as in Fallout 3

As I want to go Bobblehead hunting . I know all the locations, but need a map.

Isn't there a command console code to remove that bar?
