As long as money goes to your account you can spend it on the store. If the card is just for the subscription than it is only used for the subscription or if the card is for a game than the redeem code can only be used for a game.
I believe that is a generic gift card and can be used at the Microsoft store if you have more question contact Microsoft billing and purchasing support.

Yes, you can use a Microsoft store card for a season pass download. Just make sure it's not an XBox Live card.
Buy the card at Gamestop. Trust me, it's much easier the way they do it. Just ask for a "card" in the amount you want. They'll actually print the code on the receipt, which is far easier to read than the idiotic way Microsoft forces everyone to scratch off that crap and leave residue on the card, making it really hard to read those small letters and numbers.
Once you take the receipt home, head to the Microsoft store > Games. There's a small teeny, tiny link after the first row of game displays which reads "Use a code". Scroll to it and click it.
The keypad will pop up and you just enter the code. No need to adjust for caps. The keyboard does it automatically.
Once completed (successfully), the screen will tell you how much you now have in your Microsoft account.
Spend it all in one place.
NOTICE: Microsoft is working on its avatar system so at this time, you cannot use the card to buy avatar items through the XO store.
You can also buy/rent movies and music, too.
I prefer this method to buy my stuff because I hate giving companies my credit card info they attach to my account, and not the console.
