Can't close oblivion gate

Post » Wed Sep 02, 2009 3:15 pm

Ive been trying to close this gate for like 2 hours now! The gate is right by The Inn of III Omen. This wasteland has like 1 giant tower and I think 6 smaller towers. There's some gates surrounding the big tower. The smaller towers are named after natural disasters i believe. Something like Eruption, Tornado, Tsunami and something else maybe. I activate everything i could get to but there is no way i could find to get inside the main tower ( except that the smaller towers connect to the middle of the main tower in 2 levels, but i can't get the top to shutdown the gate ). Anyone have any ideas to shut down the gate?

Ok i'm certain that in that specific gate there is a door to the main tower once you open some of those gates surrounding it. If you can't find it then you must find any path that leads to the main tower, once you get in if you cant go up or below try jumping down the energy beam that goes straight the tower, do not get close to it though and try to move around when you jump so that you dont land in the wrong place

This is a little trick I learned, go up one of the towers and get on the bridge connecting it to the main tower, if you look down you should see a low bridge on one of the sides. Jump to it(save before jumping) and with a bit of luck or high acrobatics or good aim, you can make it to the bridge. From this bridge you'll enter the tower from another way and have access to the sigil stone without having to open any gates.

I think the one wasteland your describing is the natural disaster tower, earthquake, tsunami, tornado, etc. yeah whoops you just said that.

You have to gain access to either the Earthquake or Hurricane towers to get to that second level. You'll have to open at least one of those big war gates to get there.

It's been a long time but as I recall, You can see ramps connecting the satellite towers to the central (main) tower. Some ramps are one floor above the others. The towers you can get to all have ramps leading to the upper floor. I believe opening one of the ground floor gates by triggering the mechanism at the top of a tower gives you access to those towers that go to the next floor down which has access to the whole main tower. Once you have triggered a gate go back down to ground level and enter through the now open gate. go to the tower that has one of the lower level ramps and go up to the ramp level and then across to the main tower. From there you can go all the way to the top.

At the top of each of the smaller towers, there should be a gate release lock. You need to get all of them open, before you can get to the Tower Portal/Breeding Fortress, whatever it happens to be called for that gate. After you open them all, it should be a clear path to the front door. Sometimes you have to go down one level, then find a different door to go up two levels...

With the exception of a couple of the "city gates" that are involved in the Allies for Bruma quest, the worlds the gates connect to are random, so telling us where the gate is doesn't help.

However, since we recognized the Natural Disasters setup, we can get out of there. Each of the four outer towers has a switch at the top to open a gate at ground level to the inner zone. There's a door from each tower top leading to the same level of the main tower, and you can go out to the top of each of the other outer towers in turn and open all the gates, by just returning to the main tower each time and going around to the next. You don't need to return to the ground until you've opened all the gates. However, if you look down from the bridges between the outer towers and the main one, you can see which gates are open. Once you can see a way inside is open, you can go down and enter the inner zone without opening the rest of the gates.

The inner zone has doors to two more towers. Go up either one, and at the top there's a bridge across to the main tower at a different level from the previous four. This one gives you full access to the main tower and you can go up to the top and close it. Just go upwards when you get into the main tower, and try a different door if you find the path leads down, or out to the other inner tower.

This is also one of the worlds that really showcases exploration, not only for figuring out how to reach the main tower on the first visit, but because the main tower isn't the only thing worth looking for.

This one is http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Random_Oblivion_World_2, as the wiki calls it. It's always the Chorrol gate as well, btw. Have a look at that link if you're still having trouble. There is some non-random loot in this world that's worth getting, but you need to go on a bit of a side trip to find it...
