Ten minutes. I've ran all over the surrounding area trying to get it to land, but it just keeps circling in the same area. The camp is next to a mountain so I'm guessing that once I get far enough away from the mountain to find flat ground for it to land on, I'm outside its detection range.

Its not even attacking from the air, it just circles endlessly.

Have you tried fast traveling to other place and then traveling back? maybe spend a night in between.
