Can't create houses at all with Hearthfire?

Post » Thu Jul 07, 2016 2:27 pm

When I make a house it never appears. Just doesn't show up at all. I load come back, revert save try again. Nothing.

No one? I mean, the house literally just doesn't spawn. I go to the drafting table, draft up the small house. I go to the work bench, I make it with the materials. I turn around..nothing. Nothing at all. I've completed the ground, the frame, the walls, the roof, etc, all of it. And it's an empty plot. No matter what I do, save, load, restart, etc.

Is this at all 3 sites, or just one?

I recall I never had a problem with the Falkreath option, but the Morthal house was....problematic since various sections just didn't show up...inside or out. I don't recall what I did to fix it, or if I even did at all since it was quite some time ago...

simplest suggestion would be to make your game as vanilla as possible and try again (I know an ENB can be a bear to get working, sorry). If it works, there's something causing issues. If it doesn't, could just be a bad install....

I'm afraid I'm no more help than that, troubleshooting with mods is far from my forte

That's weird, I have never had a problem with any of the houses. Since you are using mods, I would suggest the unofficial patches - including the Hearthfire one, maybe that will help?

Are you not running the USLEEP, or am I just somehow not seeing it in your list?

Eh, yeah. You absolutely need http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71214/. And if you're not using http://loot.github.io/, you probably should be.

I have never heard of USLEEP but I am of coarse running LOOT. There are no issues with any of my mods. I am not willing to uninstall them as it takes over 2 hours to install my mods in the right order for my ENB to work lol. I guess I'll just do with the markarth home hah

I assume you are using NMM? Then no, just install it and run LOOT.

If using MO, you need to also make sure the priority is correct in the left pane (place it just below Dragonborn).

I would also strongly advise USLEEP. It fixes so many bugs it is ridiculous. If I could only play with one mod, USLEEP would be it.

As well, the team behind USLEEP has a mod to fix the errors in the High Resolution Texture Packs. UHRP (Unofficial High Resolution Patch). Link http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31255/?. I would strongly suggest that one as well.

Again, nothing special to install that in NMM except run LOOT after. If using MO, in left pane place it below the High Resolution Texture Packs.

With those two (especially USLEEP) you will have FAR fewer bugs in game. Night and day.

Seems to be a relatively common problem. The two non-Falkreath houses have a lot of weird cases where mods will interfere with them, including really random things like werewolf overhaul mods which don't seem like they should affect landscapes at all. The best documentation I've found on it is at http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim_talk:Windstad_Manor#The_manor_itself_doesn.27t_appear_in_the_world

The weird part is the jarl of morthal is the only one I could get to even give me the quest. I have a letter from the Jarl of falkreath and Jarl of falkreath won't even speak to me about it.

I've never found any followup topics in Falkreath relating to that letter. I think it is like clutter - added only for game color.

However, the quickest way to get started on thane quests, I've discovered, is to talk to the various jarls' stewards, particularly about buying a house in the area. Initially, they will say they don't offer anything to outsiders that the residents don't know. After that, do odd jobs around the town and, especially, do any side quests related to that jarl or town. When you turn in a jarl's personal request, he or she will thank you and usually suggest you talk to their steward about buying property in their hold. If nothing else, that will tell you how many more odd jobs you need to do for the thane's quest.

If you have another copy of the same radiant quest running, it can't start another. So any "kill the bandit boss" quests blocks the Jarl's quest.

THe Letter from the Jarl is definitely part of the Hearthfire quest.

I've never had an issue with starting these quests. Now, if you are having issues, get the http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/66511/? mod....

Another odd thing that can happen is you start building a house at one location it starts building at another location, have you checked one of the other house sites? Never had the issue myself but I've seen more than one report of it happening.

I tend to build only one house at a time, so I never noticed the build issue above.
