Can Crysis 2 STEAM vs NON STEAM party issues

hey guys i have crysis 2 on steam and my friend has it well retail.
Every time i try to invite him to my session or he tries to invite me to his we get "connection to host failed"

any tips?

he has strict
i guess that explains it.

any tips on how to change it?

I'm on Strict NAT type, with Steam copy.

My friend, retail copy, can join my squad without issue.
