Along the way I contacted Chills (-10 Intel, -10 Agil, -10 Willpower), Serpiginous Dementia (-10 Intel, - 5 Willpower, -10 Personality) & Brainrot (-5 Strength) and just noticed the decrease in my stats. I went to the chapel and prayed at the alter shortly after noticing, however when I checked my stats again - the penalties had not gone away. I even slept and tried the alter again the next day... just for good measure. No good.

Anyone else have a similar issue?

Don't forget that Wayshrines also cure your ailments, in addition to buffing you.
