From what I can tell from using google to find the specs of your laptop, I'd be hesitant to try it. Maybe you could borrow Morrowind from a friend and install it first to see if it runs. I doubt it would run well though.

I wish people would actually post their computer's specifications rather then just saying its a Make and Model.

From a google search it is fairly ancient, but should be able to run Morrowind.
  • Intel Core Duo T2400 1.83GHz
  • 1GB 533MHz DDR2 RAM (2 x 512MB config)
  • 80GB 5400RPM HD
  • 14.1-inch WXGA screen
  • Integrated graphics (Intel Media Accelerator 950)
  • 24X CDRW / DVD Combo
  • Windows XP Pro
Note: Intel Integrated chipsets are known to cause graphical artifacts/glitches in Morrowind. Morrowind is mostly CPU driven and if these specifications are accurate, that CPU is fast enough.

The thing I'd be most concerned about is your RAM. 1 GB is really quite small, and I believe there are patches that allow Morrowind to use up to 4 GB of RAM. I guess if you just wanted to run vanilla Morrowind it would probably be okay, but the entire point of getting it on your PC is really so you can use all the mods, which naturally are more demanding on your hardware.

I'm not familiar with your graphics card, but your graphics card is usually unimportant when compared to your processor and your RAM, which are the real things behind how well a game runs on your computer.

You cannot upgrade the graphics chipset on a laptop*.

@Ravenius: You have a point, but 1GB should be enough for all the offical mods and maybe a few third party ones. Most likely the laptop can be upgraded to 2GB, if you can find the RAM.

edit: Dell confirms you can upgrade to 4GB (2GB maximum per slot) DDR2-533 or DDR2-667. I recommend sticking to DDR2-533.

Please post a dxdiag report, as you could have a nvidia Quadro graphics chipset which may affect performance.

To post a dxdiag:
click the Start Menu buttton, go to Run... type: dxdiag
When the program finishes, click the Save All Information button. This will save a dxdiag.txt file (most likely on the desktop). Find the file and copy & paste its contents here in a reply. Thanks.

No actually,a gig of ram is plenty for morrowind, unless trying to use graphics-enhancing mods which he won't be able to run with that hardware anyway.
@ OP,just forget about it.I tried to run the game on that same video chipset when my graphics card died years ago,and it was horribly slow.I think i was averaging 24 fps on 1024x768 res.

If you want a nice looking game you're going to need a PC/laptop that was actually made with gaming in mind. It's an old game so it should run fine on its own, but with the integrated graphics card I don't know if you'll be able to make it look much nicer.

You can try mods and if they don't run well you can always disable or get rid of them.

Point is, your computer really isn't meant for playing video games. You can get a new gaming computer for relatively cheap nowadays, maybe 500 dollars for a low end one which would be fine for playing Morrowind. If that's not an option though, then I guess you're just out of luck and can enjoy Morrowind as is, with few if any modifications until a time when you can get a better computer.

Buy Morrowind on Steam, and you'll have a much easier time with getting the game, installing it, and then it automatically patches to the highest official patch. It's only 19.99 to get the Game of the Year edition, which includes Morrowind + its two expansion packs.

I'm sure you could get it cheaper, used from Amazon.com but then you need to pay shipping and keep up with the discs and ugh. Steam would just be better.

If that's the case then you can borrow a relative's card and offer to pay them back the money you use. Or you can use your debit card, if you have one. Or, if you have a car you can go to the local Walgreens or grocery store and ask them to direct you to where the prepaid credit cards are, as those work just as well.

Like I said, your other option is really Amazon.com, I don't think it would be very likely to go into Gamestop or Best Buy and find a Morrowind Game of the Year edition for PC.

Stores don't let you return computer games anyways, so if you buy Morrowind anywhere for PC and then try and return it if it doesn't run then you'll be holding onto a copy of the game anyways. At least if you buy the game digitally you won't need to worry about losing the CDs, it'll always be there for a time when you might be able to play the game on a better computer.

Yes, everyone thinks that your laptop meets the minimum requirements to run the game. But you won't be able to do any pretty mods, and it may be that even vanilla runs with a low framerate on low settings in all likelihood.
