Can't drop quest item once the quest is done.

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:14 pm

Yeah, I was doing two unrelated quests and found a couple of those instruments in different chests, but this playthrough I knew better than to touch them because the quest breaks if you pick them up before being given it, and even if you do it in the right order the items are permanently stuck in your inventory. I guess it wouldn't matter but they are pretty heavy items.

Those stones are really annoying. I had collected a huge stack of them before realising the only way to ever dump them was to join a guild I hated and collect them all. They should have at least given them zero weight if that was the case. Its more like being trapped with cursed item otherwise.

thats a "feature" bro.

/sarcasm

Its crap like that that really irks me about the sloppiness of skyrim

I'd rather have quest items have weight always, but be allowed to drop them off at least in safe containers within houses you own. This weightless thing is just stupid.

That would work if they also made it so that quest items sold to a merchant stay permanently in his inventory. So if you accidentally sold one you would be able to track it down again. Permanently losing a quest item to a merchant would svck.

I have 3 Amulets of Talos now. Seriously what quest do these belong to? I finished main story, civil war, and companions and I still can't drop them.

I had the same problem. The only way to fix it it was to use the pc console command to drop the amulet and then pick it up again which made the quest update. If you're not using the pc version though that quest gets stuck if you grab the amulet too soon.

I guess its done so you cant tell if an item is needed later or not.

Ten items you cant drop...which one is required for a later quest?

If you could drop all but one its a dead giveaway!

That would be "Return to Grace" - a quest in Solitude. Did you pick up Roggvir's Amulet of Talos (the guy that gets executed when you enter Solitude for the first time)?

Coral Claw is never a quest item. But don't sell it until you use it at Yngol Barrow.

Depends how you acquire it. If you got it from the holder, it's a minor quest. If you found it, it isn't.

I'm 100% sure this will never be "fixed" like a lot of things in skyrim dropping quest items wouldn't force you to WIN HARD. Think about it if you could fail anything would it be at all majestically majestic?

Its not really needed, since no quest items have any weight...

It junks up my inventory. It should be fixed at some point.

Edit : Or if they made "quest items" a separate section of the inventory.
