Can I farm BOS power armor?(Spoiler, don't click)

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 1:21 pm

So I am on my first retrieval mission with the Institution and have done several quests with BOS and just watched a battle between the two down town. Neither attacked me, so after the battle I found a complete BOS power armor. Thinking of just letting this ride for a while and see if a can get a few more sets. Is this viable?

I am curious if I can kill any of the BOS or Institution synths without them turning on me. Synths in general can belong to anyone, so I'm going to guess the Courier Synths are the only hands off guys, and people in the facility. Any have some answers for me?

At the Battle of Bunker Hill if you have gone far enough with each faction none of them will be hostile towards you and you can kill them all without repercussion. I believe I collected 7 sets of BoS power armor, 7 gauss rifles and a load of other stuff

Well, there are few ways i would suggest:

Once Prydwen and vertibird patrols appear, you can get PA off of the patrols.

Sneak and sneak attacks are important here.

Sneak up on one of the tinmen, steal their fusion core. That will make them get out of the PA (since it has no power), leaving it behind for you to enter and keep. Giving you functional frame and armor pieces.

Or get behind a tinman, sneak attack their fusion core with a ranged weapon, either use VATS or manual aim. If you ue VATS, i do suggest to use crit, since it always hits. That should make the core go overload, eject from the armor and explode. It is very likely that the driver will survive the explosion, leaving you a functional frame and damaged/broken armor pieces. If they die, you get just the armor pieces.

Or sneak attack the tinman, killing them, leaving you armor pieces without a frame.

If you are seen throughout either of these, i believe that tinmen will aggro, making BoS very angry. So be careful.

^^^^ This.

Plus, if you saved Danse in Blind Betrayal, as longas you have accompanying you, you're an enemy of the Brotherhood. So long as you don't try and kill any named Brotherhood NPCs, he'll loyally help you kill nameless BoS mooks.

Of course, if you decide to side against the Brotherhood, all BoS NPCs will be permenantly hostile. Got to the Cambridge Police Station or the Airport, kill them all and loot their gear, leave and wait a couple days, go back and rinse n' repeat to your heart's content.

Yes, just follow BOS patrols or run towards the fight anytime you hear a vertibird coming and loot the BOS casualties. As long as there's not a named NPC among them, you can even kill them yourself with no long-term consequences to your relationship with BOS.

I had to buy a lot of PA frames to hang the parts on, but I have about three dozen suits of BOS T-60 repainted and scattered around all my settlements for the settlers to climb into.
