Ok, a few things.
Are you employed?
Was the fine issued to you in ticket form, or do you have to appear in court?
Do you know if the officer has any footage of your failure to indicate?
You can write a letter if you wish, however since this is a matter of you using your indicators, that will be very difficult to contest. The law is pretty solid about indicating. Don't take it through court. You will have to then pay court costs if you lose, which is NOT WORTH IT especially over a $150 fine. Your best bet is to write a letter, you can find out where to direct your letter from your local police station or online or something. I wrote in about a fine I got for using my horn, and I got off. You have to be very polite and very respectful, too. That will always help.
