So, I'm trying to build up my settlement. I have a water pump and generator, but the game won't let me build a water purifier, even though I have all the required supplies to do it. It just stays red no matter where I try to place it.nDo I need to build something to put it on, or what am I missing here?

Do you have the necessary perks, if any? I could create a Trader Stall, for example, but it kept showing as red and I finally noticed that it ALSO requires Local Leader in order to place it, which I do not have.

The water purifier has to be placed in water, such as the small creek around Sanctuary.

The water purifier has to actually be IN water for it to be built.

Yeah, I finally got it. The way they had me do things for Sanctuary, as far as water goes, made me think that it had to be next to the water pump in order to work. Eventually I got it though.
