You think that's bad? After I cleared out an area of enemies I told him to stay while I finished the quest. Several map transitions later the quest was done, I went back to get him and he wasn't there.
Hey
Did you check back at the Petrol Station or at a kennel in Sanctuary. I spent about 2 hours looking for him yesterday after I wanted to do a mission by myself. I sent him to Sanctuary and I really looked everywhere for 2 hours. Then i saw him lying in a kennel behind the house on the right at the bridge... dozing away. Instead of being pissed off all I could say was "Awwww."

Yeah like I said took forever for me to. I deleted those other kennels and made a kennel next to my own house. A lot easier now
I usually had Piper around my settlement but after you do a certain main quest she will head back to her own house in Diamond City. She will stay there until you complete it. Once you do you can then get her back again. That happened with Nick as well.

so he goes where kennels are eh?
i lost him in my xbox one game. not that i want to use him, but i do like to know where things and people are at all times.
ill scrap all kennels and build a new one at the workshop
Yeah, Pete Hines said to look in all the backyards on his twitter account. Makes it scary to send Dogmeat elsewhere though.
Normally I fast travel to the location before dismissing a follower. I would hate to lose them.
Hey
Yeah if you sent him to a settlement then he will most likely be in a Kennel. I searched for him for 2 hours and then I saw him lying there heh. If you sent him somewhere else then I wouldn't know sorry.

Yep. Get rid of every kennel except one, and he will always go back to that one when you send him to the settlement.
The problem most people are having is that there are multiple kennels around Sanctuary and the Red Rocket Gas Station he could go to, or move between. Scrap those svckers and force him to pick one!
