I can't find the fire ants nest in Marigold Station

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:46 pm

I'm fairly used to searching through the subway stations and along tracks but I'm darned if I can find that nest. Any hints? Much appreciated.

Check your local map for areas you have not explored...check your pipboy for NPC blips...doesn't the marker point you to Lesko anyway ?

As Zero pointed out, check your local map. That subway area is close-ended. Pick a direction. Pick left. Always go left. You will find Lesko, or rather, you will meet each other down there. After you talk to him at his lab, and about the fire ants, you will see another door. Go through that door and turn right. Save. Try to do the optional part of that quest, and try to be extra sneaky down there and have a look around. A spoiler about how I handle that situation (Don't look if you want to figure out your own way):
Spoiler
Bring mines. Lots of mines. I run down there streaking to get the ants' attention, then I run back to my pre-laid minefield. And hope nothing gets through. And by doing this I lure the ants away from the Queen so I can get her out of the kill zone.

It took me a bit to figure out that I had to go through Lesko's lab, too. I hate Metro tunnels...

I met Lesko already and wandered around his lab a bit but didn't look for a different door. Thanks for the tips all. Yes, Metro stations can be a little frustrating.

I stole everything in that metro one and i still couldn't find the nest, final I asked my step dad and he showed me the door i felt so stupid, but I what level did you try that quest at because I just killed everything with my Chines Assault Rifle. I Hate Metros Just Because You Can't See Very Well, If I Could See I Wouldn't Mind Them.

You don't need lots of mines, just a few Bottlecap Mines, 1 per guardian.

I avoid making Bottlecap Mines until I have found all three schematics. I do this with Nuka Nades as well. If you look around, you will find more than enough mines for your endeavor.

Why wait, you come across so many components that you're not gaining much by holding back. Why not give yourself an early advantage? I do hold off on the Nuka-Grenade though, but only because I want to have enough Quantum for the the quest first.

In my particular play at the moment, he was restricted at early levels to not being able to make Bottlecap Mines until he had found all three schematics, and had graduated to the third rank of Demolitions Expert. It is one of the myriad of restrictions I have made to make this game more enjoyable for me on the 360.
