The reason I need someone to reset it for me is that I believe I have discovered a bug in the password reset form.
I tried using the change password interface, but it is coming up with an error whenever I try. The error is non-specific and the layout of the change password dialogues are ambiguous which makes it difficult to ascertain what I'm doing wrong to receive the error.
Error #1: "'Dr.Noodles' contains invalid characters"
My username is "Dr.Noodles", and if I enter anything in the password field, I receive an error stating that "'Dr.Noodles' contains invalid characters". How is this possible when it is my actual user name?
Error #2: "An error occured"
If I try the username "DrNoodles" where I have removed the period. I receive the error "An error occured". This error tells me very little useful information. Also, you have spelt "occured" incorrectly.
Password form suggestions:
- A suggestion would be to have 3 password fields (as most password change forms have). "Current password", "Enter new password" and "Confirm New Password". This would remove the ambiguity.
- Giving guidelines on what you can and can't do for a password would also be helpful. Minimum and maximum length, which symbols and characters can/can't be used. Basically, bring the form up to scratch with other password forms.
- Be more specific with your error reporting. Which are the characters that are invalid? What exactly is the error? Generic error reporting should be only used as a last resort.
So please reset my password ASAP for me and perhaps address the issues I noted.
Cheers,
Dr.Noodles
