I getting really fed up with thrying to get this Key,what do I need to do to get it.I have done all the quest's for the Brotherhood and still no key,I tried helping the current guy in charge not sure of his name and did not get the key,I tried helping Hardin and getting him into power and still no key,I have tried Pick pocketing everyone into place still no key,the olny one thing I did not do was get the missing Laser Pistol for the girl who can't find the missing one.Can someone please tell me what I have not done.

there is a mod that unlocks this bunker, not much there.

Since the first patch that bunker has been locked with no key, there isn't a key in the game that will open it.

If you are on the PC, open the console, click on the entrance to the bunker, then type unlock and hit return and close the console. There is not much in there? Depends if you want the copy of Deans Electronics sitting on one of the windowsills.

Deans Electronics was enough to make me unlock that door

Aye, that's why I unlocked it with the console too, Deans Electronics is a bloody good read - curl up with a copy of that and a bowl of molerat stew and a beer, perfect end to a day in the Mojave

It's [censored] they lost the key there since two patches ago. I can't take Jury Rigging before I grab 3 out of 4 Dean's Electronics (or I'd waste 2 skill points in the end). Having to cheat to get in there is irritating.

How do you open the console,I'm new to PC gaming and not sure how this is done.

Press the key immediately to the left of the 1 key and above the TAB key. The symbol on it will vary depending upon what type of keyboard layout you have, in the US it's ~ and in the UK it's ` but it's always in the same place.

Out in the Netherlands it's both, depending on whether shift is pressed or not.

Well you shouldn't need to press shift to open the console whatever symbols are on the key, it's just that key by itself. But thank you, that information may be useful should I ever find myself in front of a Nederlands keyboard (and no I'm not being sarcastic, my husband lived in Utrecht for a while and it's entirely possible that some of the spare keyboards we have are that configuration )

Ok I got the console to open but I'm still having one problem I typed in unlock but where is the return key,when I hit the enter key it say's something to the affect it is not a valid command,also how do you close the console I tried typing exit and hitting enter but that just loaded the credit's,and by the way thanks for the help so far guy's.

Open the console, sounds like you did that right

Use the mouse cursor to click on the entrance to the bunker - it should say BOS Abandoned bunker (or similar) in kind of blurry letters at the top of the screen once you've clicked on it

Type the word unlock and press enter/return (they are the same thing, the enter button, I always say return cos I'm old and learned to type on an old typewriter!)

Close the console by pressing the same button you used to open it - left of the 1 key and above TAB

Ok I got it to work now and got the Book I was after.By the way I'm not sure witch book it was I got but I got one early on in the game then my friend showed me where he got all 4 books as well but when I went to use them it said I had 5 of the books,don't ask me because I can not remeber witch one it was but I did have 5 books,I thought there were olny 4 books per class,for example olny 4 Duck and Cover Books.

Great news! Now you need to save your game, exit the game, and then start up and reload that save if you want to carry on getting Steam achievements. Using the console disables achievements for that session, saving, exiting, then reloading will re-enable them.

Yeah I know it's a bit odd, I know for sure (because I make a note of these things, so I don't waste skill points) that so far in this playthrough I got 5 each of "Big Book of Science", "Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor", and "Duck and Cover" even though there are only supposed to be 4 of each in the game. I guess there might be some random locations for some skill books, that's the only thing I can think of.

i got the key from the bos head guy after i returned from talking to the scouts out in the field. he said i now have access to the safe house.

I got the key, but I chose not to help Hardin. I don't know if that matters or not.
Here's what I did:
Before you dethrone the Elder to put Hardin in power you need to complete all of Veronica's quests.
Veronica is one of the potential followers.
She can be found at the 188 trading post.

I think you're talking about the key to the Brotherhood of Steel Safehouse, a different location than the Abandoned Bunker. The game devs took the key for the bunker out of the game - that has been confirmed by people looking for it with the GECK. There's been some speculation that the bunker may play a role in some future DLC, or this may just be a screw up. I'm inclined to believe the latter.

Yeah it seems a few people are talking about the BoS safe house here. I found the Abandoned Bunker the other day and you sure as hell are not opening it without a key or a PC.
