can't get dosbox to work

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:02 pm

I'm trying to use dosbox to play Arena, on Windows XP. Problem is I'm supposed to type in MOUNT C GAMES, but when I do I get a message saying that directory games doesn't exist. I tried just MOUNT C but that doesn't work either (and yes my hard drive is drive c).

Try MOUNT C C:\GAMES, if you haven't already.

that doesn't work either. Is there another dos emulator I can use instead?

EDIT: Ok, I looked and found that my game had been installed somewhere different on my computer than where I thought. It wasn't in C:\games it was in C:\arena so I typed Mount C:\arena and it said Drive c is mounted as local directory c:\arena

The next line has a Z:\, which I thought at this point was supposed to change to a C:\

I don't know... Arena works perfectly for me when I enter the following commands:

MOUNT C C:\
C:
CD\ARENA
ARENA

That's assuming that Arena has a folder of its own in the C: drive. Try that.

Ifyou plan on playing more DOS games, consider a GUI front end to avoid all those weird DOS commands - a front end like D.O.G. or D-Fend Reloaded.
