Can we get new maps before the game is out?

If someone can link me to where Bethesda officially states that Skyrim takes place over 200 years after Oblivion, then I'll believe it. Until then, it all just sounds like crazy speculation with little in the way of proof.

I have no proof, but my reasoning comes straight from the trailer. "The Elder Scrolls told of their return. Their defeat was merely a delay." And then something that I can't for the life of me decipher what the narrator is saying about the time after Oblivion opened. To me, it suggests some new threat relating to the Oblivion Crisis. And dragons.

Bethesda hasn't stated anything, but there is pretty substantial reason to believe it to be true. In case you didn't hear about this already, when the Elder Scrolls novel came out, Amazon had a blurb that said that the events of the book took place long after the events of Oblivion, and the book served to bridge events for the 200 year gap between Oblivion and the next Elder Scrolls game. This blurb was removed pretty quickly, but not before some fans took note. I don't have the exact text but maybe someone else here does... I don't see why Amazon would have false information or why they would post something that they made up in their official blurb for a book. And if that were the case, I don't see why they would be so quick to suppress the text. It all adds up to an accidental leak to me. Plus why else would the book have been written in that time period in the first place? People want to read about events/people in a world that is relevant to the current ES game universe.

On a side note; I wonder if you climb to the Jerral Mountins in TES V; if they will let you see the Imperial City (obviously just as a back drop) but I think that would be a nice touch to the game.

I would really hate that. Cyrodiil itself is supposed to be the size of Europe, so even seeing it from Bruma broke immersion for me. I even tried playing with distant lands off, just to feel like the world is like... big

The narrator says

"You should have acted. They're already here. The Elder Scrolls told of their return. Their defeat was merely a delay til the time after Oblivion opened when the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood."

"The time after Oblivion opened" is very vague, and could mean anything from the day after the first Oblivion gate opened during the Oblivion Crisis, to two hundred years or more after the Crisis.

It's not an official source, but http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/24/elder-scrolls-novel-listing-mentions-next-game-set-200-years-af/ an article on what everybody's talking about.

Hmm, thanks for all the info everyone. I now accept it as a possibility :P

Either way, there are dragons. This is exciting.

Oh, and, a map would indeed be very awesome to see if this has taken place after the events described in the novel.

Here is a map I found that I think you'll like. It's a topographic map for all of Tamriel!

I've been staring at it and imagining what's there, like you.

How lore accurate is that map? Looks oddly detailed.
