Can we get news on performanceoptimization patches?

Post » Sun Jan 10, 2016 2:01 am

The game is desperatly in need of them, especially AMD users. I understand it's the holidays and all and I'm not expecting a massive overhaul tomorrow or anything, but at least let us know its on the radar. The game should be running much better than it does for many people having issues.

Like modders are finding that large amounts of textures are compressed incorrectly or not at all, the fps tanks in certain areas even with beefy computers, gameworks gimps AMD, and in general it seems like there could be much to do to make the game run smoother.

Are these issues going to be patched?

I don't know the specifics of it, but the next patch is due in early January as I understand.

At this point I'd rather have a massive bugfixing patch to be frank. We've already had two (beta) optimization patches but they haven't ironed out any gameplay bugs yet beyond some crash issues here and there.

At this point we know absolutely nothing about anything planned by Bethesda, so we cannot assume anything either. Name calling and making unfounded assumptions isn't very helpful, and those efforts are best used elsewhere.

I know for one that I will not buy their next game, I somehow managed to beat the main story and most of more significant side quests in about 70 hours, got the Season Pass and as for now I am going to wait for the DLC to come out. Till then the game is dead to me, Luckily I still have Pillars of Eternity and Witcher 3 DLC's to play through, that alone should take me quite a while. And if Beth checks the forums - here is an advice from me: let Obsidian do your next Fallout game, we will all be happier :)

You can make all the guesses you want, but there's really no solid info on what will or will not be included in it yet. I hope all of the Bethesda employees that are diligently working on it have a great holiday season. I'm fine with waiting until January because I haven't really had any huge problems that weren't easily solvable.

It'll be your loss. I love Bethesda games, and will continue to play them.

Regarding Obsidian, you do realize that New Vegas was basically built on the architecture of Fallout 3 that was developed by Bethesda, right? The reason that New Vegas was less problematic is the fact that Bethesda had already worked the majority of the kinks out of the game architecture. Simply by default, Obsidian didn't have as many problems to deal with as Bethesda did upon releasing Fallout 3, or now Fallout 4. If Obsidian did another Fallout game, it would likely similarly be based on the future patched and polished architecture of Fallout 4. Obsidian likely won't be doing another Fallout game though. As I've understood, the company isn't doing so well currently.

Not doing so well? I believed they were doing pretty good due to the success of Pillars of Eternity, theirs first own game. Anyway I agree with most of what you've said as well, thing is I am not letting my love for their previous games cloud my judgment of Fallout 4 which is an unfinished product that barely delivered the promises of devs. I enjoyed the game, despite of the sometimes game breaking issues, but there is no way I would sink 400 hours into it in it's current state as I have into NV, Oblivion or Skyrim. I just feel betrayed you know?

I've invested quite a lot of money just to have a PC ready to meet the requirements and the game simply refuses to cooperate. CTD's and horrendous framerate drops or stuttering are unforgivable. Nevertheless I mentioned Obsidian not only because they made New Vegas, they kinda specialize in making other companies sequels, did you notice that? :D Anyway I really hope that Beth will actually, for once, listen to our cries and do that extra bit of work. What's more important than the quality of a product nowadays when there is so much competition? I'm glad Star Wars were decent if not very good, I would not be able to survive 2 let downs like that.

I may be wrong. I just recall reading some comments about them facing some financial issues at the moment.

I can't really relate to feeling betrayed. I'm almost 300 hours into Fallout 4 and I still haven't finished the main quest. I'm approaching the point of no return where I have to decide where my allegiances are at, and I'm having a total blast with the game.

I'm glad that you are not experiencing the issues I was, at least some people can enjoy the game. Unfortunately if I want to have a blast, an immersive adventure where I can really focus on discovering all and every place and quest I have to wait till the most annoying issues are dealt with, I feel the way I do maybe because I had to sacrifice a lot of things on my wish list to be able to get a powerful PC only to get the problems I have. That's why I want to distance myself, forget about it and come back later on, maybe after a major patch or a DLC. Till then I wish you happy hunting, fellow Vault Dweller.

There is no need for that. You can voice your concern like an advlt, and you don't have to be rude to do it.

Why oh why would you buy a season pass if you do not like the game? And no, not everyone will be happier with Obsidian Fallout, sigh. Not really good advice and quite disrespectful.

Like I don't expect a patch in December because of holidays and that's understandable.

I'm just asking for more communication on post launch support that isn't Todd talking about dlc.

If I was going to demand anything it would be a boycott of gameworks.

I got it instantly, just because I had so much love for this franchise and Bethesda themselves. Unfortunately Bad experiences make you change your mind. Hopefully devs or the community will make this game enjoyable for me, but as I said - I am very disappointed and for the time being I will focus on other titles. Still if you find the game fun and interesting then please enjoy it and don't let my whining affect your perspective ;)
