Can't get over 60 fps cap...

Post » Sat Feb 20, 2016 7:58 pm

A couple days ago I picked up an Acer X34 100hz G-sync monitor, and no mater what I do in Fallout 4 I'm stuck at 60 fps. Other games and desktop are running at 100 fps, but for some reason I can't seem to convince Fallout 4 to follow suit.

Here is what I have tried so far to no avail:

Disabled Vsync in the fallout4prefs.ini and saved as read-only.

Disabled Vsync in Nvidia control panel

Set frame cap to 100 fps in Rivatuner

any suggestions.

Suggestion: Don't. The game's physics freak out at framerates over 60, and weird stuff happens. It svcks, but que sera sera.

Its locked for a reason. Expect all sorts of weirdness if you try and get over 60fps.

My suggestion don't go over 60fps, it's capped with very good reason.

Like others said, don't. Due to a stupid engine feature the physics really go bananas when exceeding 60 FPS.

Fallout 4 engine tick speed is synced with your fps.Stupid design for....reasons.

If you go to 120 fps expect everything to happen at double speed.

Also expect flying bramins and forks,as usual with Beth games.

bah, thought that issue wasn't nearly as prevalent in FO4 and only caused issues once it got to the 144 and over fps range. Don't know why, this is a bethesda game after all.

Have you installed the Monitor "drivers"?

I have a 144Hz monitor. I left vsync on, and get a steady 70ish FPS and it plays just fine, with the occasional car falling off the highway. I haven't really noticed any other drawback.

The only drivers from Acer for the X 34 are for windows 7 and 8.1, not windows 10. Tried to use those but no go.
