I downloaded Oblivion from Direct 2 -- all plays well except that I am unable to enter the hall to the sewer after receiving amulet -- the end of the tutorial section.....what is wrong?

The secret door is a step and a half upward, and you have to move forward and jump up slightly at the same time.
