Can't get through Dead Money, so what should I try next?

Well as you may know from my other thread, I got to a spot in the vault where I couldn't physically control my character from the dead spot on the stairs to the terminal to turn off the alarms before my head blows up (despite trying so many times in so many sessions it just felt pointless). So I've deleted off all my dead money saves except my last one. I hate to abandon the DLC but the truth is I didn't like it much anyway ... It was just supremely irritating with it's speakers and invincible holograms. Oh well.

So what about the other DLCs? Do the rest of the DLC's have twitchfest moments where you can only get through if you're not a 55 year old with poor hand eye coordination or are they only as bad as NORMAL Fallout new vegas? And if the others are playable (by someone going slow), which one should I try? I'm thinking the Big MT one maybe? Or should I just hold out for fallout 4.

In case you're curious, I typically sneak slowly and quietly and try to think my way through the game which is usually possible. There is usually a way to arrive with the right equipment or bring the right follower, or arrive with the right skills, etc., where rapid coordinated moves with the controller aren't necessary. I can't remember one case in Fallout 3 or NV or the Fallout 3 DLCs where I felt so helpless as this. I've tried games like Bioshock and I didn't get past about 20% of the demo because I just couldn't maneuver well enough to avoid being pulverized by every enemy. But Fallout has VATs and that makes all the difference. Surprisingly (or not) I can handle Skyrim all right and only in one spot in Oblivion did I have some trouble, in the ultimate oblivion timed game quest. Hated that, it took me a few tries to do it.

Old World Blues (the Big MT one) is my favourite. It's a lot more open for exploration than Dead Money is, and quite humorous.

All of the expansions were designed to be a bit harder than the standard game, but I think Dead Money was designed to be especially difficult. I found it quite challenging compared to the others.
Honest Hearts is probably the easiest one to do.

It's kind of sad you quit Dead Money, but many have quit that were far younger than you. Also, protip, the Holograms aren't invincible. Just shut off their emitter arrays, or, if you lack the aptitiude, then just shoot their arrays. Those blue orbs on walls, those are their arrays. Dead Money rewards those cautious in nature. While being slow and sneaky helps in Dead Money, you have to be quick witted. You hear a speaker? Stop, back up, look around. Determine your available routes, 'poke the fence' so to speak. If you see its speaker, shoot it, if not, run the opposite way, a terminal may be nearby.

The rest of the DLC are pretty generic combat wise, typical mindless shoot em up gunplay. But great stories. Though I despise Old World Blues for being a glorified fetch quest.
