Can we get a time table for the update

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 5:30 pm

I would just like to know when the update is coming to fix the lag and texture issues. I do not need an exact date, I would just like to no about when, as a consumer of your product, I can enjoy this game (if ever). Days? Weeks? Months?
BTW, its quite obvious that no one played the xbox 360 version on a normal xbox 360 at all during the dev cycle. Even a 5 yr old can spot these texture issues. In addition, the lag over xbl, how was this not immediately spotted? these kinds of things upon purchasing a new title make me loose faith in the gaming industry. "Were looking into it", doesnt really satisfy me. I remember waiting ages for the new vegas patch (worth it eventually I spose) If your going to scrap this project, please lemme know now so I can return this unplayable n64 looking game, or atleast put it away for a bit so I dont have to wake up hoping for a patch (like I did everyday for a month with new vegas, beth soft your out of house launches all svck, tell you something?). If the patch will be here next few days or even weeks, let me know that too. If Im going to be waiting months to play a finished product, PLEASE let me know this too. Its not fair to your consumers. Thank you.

Edit: the game is and always has been installed to my hardrive,

I'm with ya. Can only play the the single player part of the game for so long before I get bored. I don't even care about the graphics right now, I'll take cheesy graphics with a consistent online experience any day.

Agreed, but I hope they take care of the lag first :shifty:

Me neither. Brink's issues are rather exceptional so I think that exceptional candour is necessary for SD to maintain any faith.

I'm sure they would like to tell everyone when and why and all that stuff but that would be like someone asking me when I will find my other black sock. You would think it a simple thing but really, I couldn't tell you more about my sock but that I have been looking for it, I will continue to look for it and I am pretty sure that I will find it and as soon as I do I will let you all know. ;)

Anyway, you get the picture, they are identifying issues, looking for what is causing them, looking for solutions and when they have them, they will issue patches to resolve all the issues they can.

I wish there was a screenshot of these texture issues, I'd love to see them. To say it looks like n64 makes me laugh but i am highly highly doubtful

I wouldn't say N64, but there are times when I'm shooting an enemy and he gets completely blurry. I would say that they are like PS2 graphics at times. It fluctuates in game really.

Just telling my friend - simple posts/updates like the one above can save SO MUCH time and worry for its fans. It's truly not that difficult.

Thanks for the post. We're all looking forward to the update.

Splash Damage is busy getting reamed out and taking meetings for making Bethesda look bad. The patch and tweaks will come out after everybody is thoroughly over the game or took the loss and sold it to Game Stop.

THANK YOU! Something as simple as this is comforting. Bethesda rocks. Crysis developers would NEVER respond to community issues, and it drove people mad, and Splash Damage forums are overloaded every 5 minutes.

The playlist tweaks are a great first step (as is the free dlc!!! wish they woulda done that for new vegas cuz I deserved it then too but anyways..). That being said, im thoroughly looking forward to the full title update to correct the textures and latency (which is still present but getting better :)) Glad to see such quick work, and although the playlist adjustment seems like more of a temporary fix, but it should help a lot of players (though I was still getting bits of extreme rubber banding in the competition playlist). Thanks SPLASH DAMAGE (and gamesas). After the major issues are resolved and people can actually play the game as intended, the minor issues can be tweaked (like the return to default sensitivity on turrets). At least this update gives me hope that the game will become greatness after the netcode and texture issues are addressed. (bots could use work too)

We have been working on updates for Brink to address the lag issue that some people have reported they were experiencing.

In the meantime, we have made a configuration change for 360 users (which will be available to the PS3, once PSN is up) that alters the number of human players when matchmaking for “Campaign” and most ‘Freeplay’ modes to eight total human players. This new configuration will allow those connecting to and hosting matches (particularly those with lower upstream bandwidth) to more reliably find and connect to quality hosts via the match-making process – resulting in less lag and more fun. This change is being rolled out today and will be available worldwide.

For players who haven’t been experienced lag, we’ll still support 8v8 on all maps via a new ‘Big Teams’ configuration in Freeplay, and through custom settings in Private matches. There is no download required for this update and it will be available automatically the next time you log in to play Brink and launch either campaign or standard Freeplay matches. This should allow players new to the Ark as well as veterans to find quality matches suitable to their preferred play style.

We are also releasing an incremental update for PC players via Steam that addresses AI, GPU, and server issues. See the http://store.steampowered.com/news/5464/. Many of these fixes are being included in the full update for the 360 and PS3 versions.

We would like to thank you for supporting Brink and for your continued feedback. To show our appreciation for your support of Brink, we will be making the first DLC for Brink available for free when it is released. This DLC is planned for June and will offer additional maps. We’ll continue to provide announcements about the next title update, as well as the first DLC release as that information becomes available.
