If I can have a sniper scope then why cant I have....

PA with a built-in binocular-type feature would be great!

In FONV I used binoculars, but they were bugged and didn't work quite right so I switched to scopes. What I'd really like to see is either a scope or binocular that toggles from normal to nightvision in low light situations.

I did, but 1) I frequently only carried a pistol and Love & Hate, and 2) I modded the overlay so the binoculars had a much wider field of vision than the scopes, so they were useful even if I did have a scoped rifle on me.

Well, you could hotkey them, same way as weapons.

Still think, that I would use a rifle scope, regardless of wider view. Ofc I can see it has its uses when not using rifles (altho handguns could get scopes as well) but still think it is a small number who used them for any longer preiod of time.

I'm sure I picked up a pair of Junk binoculars somewhere the other day. That or I dreamt it.. which would be pretty weird as I normally dream about telescopes.

EDIT: I can't check due to me having deleted the build but if any one else could confirm that, I'd love to know myself lol

The problem with binoculars is that they don't distinguish themselves from sniper scopes in any meaningful way.

Maybe if there were going to be binoculars, then there should be some special effects to them (like artillery spotting. You wouldn't need to carry flares and since binoculars can spot farther than flares can be thrown, calldown range is increased. And since there is a lack of flares, the enemy isn't aware of an incoming barrage).

Come to think of it, I think binocs should be a minuteman item, they can definitely see a role in artillery calling being buffed.

You know, now I feel stupid until I made this thread I thought the minutemen flares were just to get a couple minute men to come fight by my side and didnt realize they were for artillery. Never used them because I figured by the time anyone got to me I am going to be dead or the bad guys are...

The flares are just for some Minutemen. The Artillery Smoke Grenades are for artillery.....

Anyway.... yeah, I use my scoped gun to scout around & look at things. (Which is why I don't use the Night or Recon scopes. They screw up the view with their color shifts....)

Having a pair of binoculars would most certainly be handy for those who don't use scoped weapons. It would cut down the weight massively, rather than carrying a sniper rifle with a weight of 19, for the sole purpose of performing recon on an area.

I would love the addition of variable zoom scopes. Not sure why these weren't included to be honest, they're extremely handy when trying to shoot enemies running closer and closer towards you. I use a long rang scope on one of my hunting/sniper rifles, and it would be brilliant if the long range scope included the variable zoom/magnification of the medium and short range scopes.

If binoculars were to be added, having the ability to add night vision or recon mods to them would be pretty nice.
