Hello Fallout Fans,
If you're reading this then you either share the same sentiments as I or don't and feel the need to castrate me for such blasphemy. Whatever the case may be, you're giving this thread a look-see. To the point. I have just finished completing the game my first run through (Caeser's Legion ending), and since the moment I finished I felt a sinking sense of disappointment (which lead to this post). Though it didn't start the moment the game ended, it was the last domino to fall from the line. There wasn't much freshness at all, it felt just like Fallout 3, except with western accents. Which by all accounts isn't entirely a bad thing, but it retracts from the shock and awe of seeing something new. The character customization was much of the same, highly bland. And yes, before it's even mentioned, every game is not perfect upon release. I'm sure the majority of you can agree that the sheer amount of problems plaguing the game (frame rate issues, bugs, ect.) should have long since been ironed out. It's simply unacceptable for a game you're paying $60 for to have such problems. Forcing you (unless you're a masochist like myself) to wait until the miracle patch comes out to enjoy the game. I chuckled to myself when the same XP and money glitch from Fallout 3 was in. Further clarifying the copy-paste nature of it all.
I was still disappointed in the graphics of New Vegas, even after seeing the trailer. I guess in my heart of hearts I expected a more polished look. Could it have killed them to upgrade the engine and overall visuals? Grossly outdated. Considering the lore, I can somewhat see the rehash of clothing and weapons. Even with the addition of a few new weapons and apparel, I personally felt there still wasn't enough variety. I can't give the same objection to voices, seeing how much more expensive it can be to the overall project hiring an army of voice talent to cover every NPC (seeing how they copy-pasted most things, this shouldn't have been too much of an issue). Speaking of NPC's, companions still svck! I still have to baby them and hold their hands all the way through. The wheel, while interesting, isn't much help in a fire fight. I ended up saving Stimpaks by playing it solo. On a related note: Why can't we have two humanoid companions? I never got the logic of only having one. hardcoe mode was just one big failure. The challenge and the frustration that came with it yielded no real reward (No, I expect more than 'just for the challenge'). Game+ mode is something that should have been implemented and would have been very nice. A lot of us would have loved to roam around the lands after seeing the conclusion to the story. The conclusion itself was so poorly done. The same ol' image stills with voices. Why not a CG cut scene? Hell, why not CG cut scenes throughout key elements in the game?
I'm sure there's a few more things I've left out--it's becoming too wall-y as is so I'll just end it here.
