Can't hit anything from long range..

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 3:50 am

So I've been using archery quite a bit as of late, comes in very handy when sneaking up on unsuspecting camps etc.. But I've noticed more often than not, I cannot hit enemies from longer distances, I've taken the zoom perk but even with this the archery from long range seem broken. Anybody else experiencing this?

Yes, I experience this and have seen many topics and references to this issue, here on this board. Further than a certain distance, arrows simply will not impact the target, however if you may have noticed that the target will react. Example- I target an elk from far away, my arrow never connects, but he animal reacts (spooked) and runs off. It's either a design oversight or bug. Hope they address it soon, as would love to snipe from a distance, since I'm a ranger.

It's been reported many times, long-range archery is evidently broken.
One of my arrows flew straight through a mammoth... Didn't hit it.

Several have said the same thing and I myself can't hit anything if they are in the far limit of vision. I do know however that my arrows are getting there as I can find them on the ground near where my target was afterwards.

So I'm not the only one that can't seem to hit targets after a certain range? Well, I suppose that's comforting.

When I was trying to hunt some elk/deer I couldn't hit them from far away, and when I was sneaking towards them, even though my sneak eye thing was all the way closed, they'd run off.

That could solve for PC users (Im assuming that's a mod). 360 & PS3 users still need Beth to patch up the problem.

No problems here. Have around 79 archery and high sneak with perks in both of those trees. Picking off baddies from long distance and even doing it in 3rd person. Just keep at it, you'll be fine. :)

You have to aim higher from farther back. Half of you don't have a bug. Aim well above their heads. The elk get spooked because your arrow hits the ground.

There is nothing i hate more than people like you... Do we have to rely on MODS to have a balanced and un-broken game? Hell no....

Better get used to it. The Unofficial Oblivion Patch has a far longer bugfix list than any of the official patches, same for Fallout 3... Skyrim'd be a first if ALL the problems ever found are addressed
