Can't install the GOTYe

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 12:52 am

Hi.

First, I'm sorry for my bad english, I'm from Germany.

Today, I bought the Fallout 3 GOTYe and i was really exited to play this game but i can't install it.
DVD 1 doesn't load on my computer. When I put the DVD into my DVD-drive first nothing happen, then my drive makes some really strange noises for about 20min and then the DVD seems to be empty. I can't open or start something manually and there is no icon or something like that which shows me that there is a DVD in the drive.
First I thought my drive is broken but I tried many other DVDs and there were no single problem with one of these.

Then I went to a friend and tried the Fallout 3 DVD on his computer and it worked there.

So there must be a problem in the combination of my drive and this DVD, because every other DVDs I tried out worked well.

Maybe I have to add that I got a Samsung Laptop but I don't know if this is important.

Any of you guys have some ideas?

Its your drive and the Fallout3 disk combonation. Some drives have been known not to read the goty edition due to the way its packaged. Inwich case you install via another computer's drive.
Or its possible you have some software on your computer that the disk's anti piracy doesnt like.
Not making judgements ,just stateing the possibilities based on what Ive read. Although I cant say Ive seen the second one mentioned in relation to the goty edition.

Not having your equipment specs, it is possible that you do not have the computer power to load and run the game. There are minimum requirement that must be met before the game will work. Previous requests for help here have shown that this game does not run well on laptops.

I have a AMD Athlon dual-core 4400, with 4 gb ram and a nvidia Geforce 430 GT, running win7 32bit. Disc 1 installs, but when I try to install the DLC disc it does not even autoload. When I click on the setup file, it just freezes, Anyone have any ideas?

Windows 7 tends to not work well with Bethesda games in general (mostly Fallout 3 & NV and Skyrim I heard) So that might be ur problem, you might want to find a patch or try changing to vista.

For some reason there is a problem loading the second disc in Vista also. A friend told me it was a problem with Windows security programs. If you boot in Safe Mode with networking, than insert the second disc into your DVD player, it will load. And make sure you have loaded the game outside of the UAC. Somewhere other than Program Files or you will have trouble later on.

This might help a little:

Some folks are reporting issues with installing the extra content on the second disk. Probably has to do with AV or some other background app or combo of things. If you are having issues with the disk not being read or seen, you can try just letting it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes and the disk will usually start up the install.

However, the quickest way in the long run to get the content installed is to use Safe Mode for the install of the second disk.
