Can't join SP or MP? Possible fix

As I was helping a few people and recently one person for some hours;

He wasn't able to join anthing like the SP or the MP.
He could login to Gamespy in Crysis 2, but he was getting popup boxes to unable to create a profile.

He trusted me with his Gamespy login to see if I could play on his Gamespy account with my key (that is separated) and that worked.

I took over his destop by Crossloop(something like teamview) and did this;

For Win7 and Vista users:



1. Cut "Crysis 2" folder C:\Users\ACCOUNT NAME\Saved Games out to the desktop(backup, just in case)

2. Added my system.cfg into his , NOTHING to do with this ISSUE! And a new one up today.

3. Done.

When he started the game, he could play MP plus SP and he had a message that he recieved the Limited Edition bonus. #Note: That only works if gamesas and your account at Gamespy matched the same email!

Try it, nothing to lose, just backup your "Crysis 2" folder. Move it to somewhere else and do not delete it just in case.

My settings came from the courtesy of : http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=33008
(cut paste from his autoexec.cfg into system.cfg)

Maybe next person just needs to get the 'Crysis 2' folder out of the "C:\Users\ACCOUNT NAME\Saved Games" folder.

g_enableInitialLoginScreen=0 <= this just hides the login screen. the email/user name issue still exists.

What g_enableInitialLoginScreen=1 do is to login right away for the Multiplayer or join the SP by g_enableInitialLoginScreen=0

By regedit, I haven't found the CDKEY of the game.
Yes it hides the login screen, but the local data might be located at above path.

Nothing :S only made the login screen show up when pressing multiplayer.

For some reason I now cant even login as im stuck on the login screen forever. Im able to log in fine for SP normally up till today that is. MP just says cannot connect to multiplayer before but now it just doesnt go anywhere

I doubt that what you did with the system.cfg had any influence to fix the problem. I would rather guess that what you did before might be the match winner for both of you, which finally broke the devils circle of registration on his end.

Just for me to get it right, you asked him for his C2 account data, and used them on your machine to log in, right?
Cause if that is the case, maybe the only thing that happened is that his gamespy account finally got updated with a C2 regkey, yours instead of his.

Another sidenote you do use an alternate system.cfg that would force users to run their client with multiGPU support, might actually cause more problems for clients that don't got a multiGPU. And none of the last block of CVARS actually should influence the game account anyway.

This should do the same job as well, as it is the retail system.cfg out of the box.

Edit: g_enableInitialLoginScreen=0 might do something, but this would need some feedback on what it actually is doing. Is it just not showing the InitialLoginScreen, but still processing login data anyway, or not.

My system.cfg file is as this, maybe different because of the language pack. And nothing happens. Cry-Tom, I hope you're working on a patch or adjusting connection for those users (like me) who have problems in getting connected.
My error is:
1- I cannot log in ingame with my gamesas.com account, and this is the error:"Connection error, please check your connection". And that's the great thing: MY CONNECTION IS RIGHT! I already took my Limited Edition bonuses, BECAUSE 2 DAYS AGO IT WAS WELL, 4 DAYS AGO IT WAS DOWN AND ON THE 25th MARCH IT WAS WELL. So, what's happening?

I hope you will help PC users well adjusting this things before everything...

Hey buddy it worked for me. Nothing worked prior. I do agree with you however. I like to know how things worked and why, so I trouble shooted after using this method. The cfg file had nothing to do with it. It was deleting the saved game file that enabled me to get into multiplayer. I ended up replacing the cfg with the original and the problem is still not occuring anymore. I don't no whats in that save game folder, but whatever it is it was preventing me from loggin into MP. It works now though I have logged out and logged in 7 times in the last half hour; this was unheard of prior to trying this fix.

i can get into both but in the MP i cant play a full game to save my life. always get droppd from host.

i have fixed this with my router settings. enabled dmz and upnp. so far got to play for 4 str8 hours. hope this helps!

Yes, sorry about this post post system.cfg. Been helping alot of guys with a other version that I use for now. I will edit out the first post (if I can) and post a fresh one. Just know that in mine MultiGPU is set to "1".

Yes, the system.cfg had nothing to do with it, but I hope people can fix the 'flickering' issue with it. I am happy that you Timsmooth posted and moving the "Crysis 2" folder was really enough. As in 'trouble shooting' I was only thinking about the location that Game Devs are using lately to store in "My Documents".

I can't play in multiplayer game, because i cannot log in game with my gamesas.com account, and this is the error:"Connection error, please check your connection". Rest of my game is connected OK. They is the fix for this error?????

All I can say, but yes some are seying 50 servers and can't connect, others are seeying over 1500 server and can connect.
Not sure what more ports are open, but will check out if I have time and edit this post. I hope we get more patches soon.
