Can my laptop run brink?

Post » Wed Feb 02, 2011 12:44 am

Hey, just wondering if you guys can tell me if my m11x laptop can run brink. I know the specs were already posted but I noticed my processor might not be able to handle it so I was wondering if I toned down the graphics if I might be able to run it..

Here are the specs: 1GB NVIDIA? GeForce? GT 335M
4GB RAM
Intel? Core 2 Duo SU7300 Processor (1.8GHz (Overclocked), 800 MHz, 3MB Cache)

Thanks in advanced

In general, you're going to need a dedicated gaming rig like an Alienware. If possible, I highly recommend you play console unless you're willing to shell out hundreds of dollars on a regular basis to keep up with PC gaming.

It should run decently. It meets the minimum specs for the game with some good leeway.

Thanks for the replies.

You guys think I'd be better off on a console or will it be okay? Kinda got mixed answers

Well, the console editions, while pretty, are capped at 30 fps. If you run Brink on your laptop with medium or low settings with no vertical sync, you could probably push 45 and get a smoother experience.

Plus, I find that shooters feel much better on keyboard and mouse. But that's me being biased. ^_^

Yea, keyboard and mouse are one of the main reasons I want it on PC. Hopefully I can pull off medium settings for this game :P

true but i do find it that the res on a labtop wile playing a game say set too 800x600 will push for sum extra FPS kinda odd i know. more like if i wanted medium/high settings u will set the res as low as it can go and get increase in fps in thos settings.

Mobile chips are definately supported.

But they're also very weak and not recommended for gaming.

No. You don't need an Alienware. You can build a rig that cost less and run better. And if you don't know how to build ask the shop where you buy PC parts to build it for you.
Trust me, as owner of an Alienware product and as a PC gamer.

The price tags of major corporations mainly goes by this guideline
60% Materials
20% Base Profit
20% Brand Name/Secondary profit.

Oh and you can also try searching google for "Can you run it"
and look for "similar" games or wait for it to be released and try it (Or even in a few days).

Some mobile graphics cards are very capable. I have an Asus with a 1GB Mobility Radeon HD 5800 and a Core i7. It runs Crysis 2 dang well, and it's what I'll be playing Brink on until I fly back home after commencement.

Also, not Alienware. :)

Crysis 2 is nowhere near a benchmark like Crysis was, though.

But that laptop should run BRINK then, I guess.

People sometimes really do give out the worse information...And why is "alienware" always a flavored choice.

Alienware today....stinks! - Overrun by dell and completely destroyed as to what it used to be.
And no you will NOT need an alienware computer just to run brink - Jesus come on , Noone needs a $800+ system from alienware just to run brink.

And not to be a stick in the mud - But were starting to get too many "Can my laptop/pc run this??" - Theres already a Thread on all this - Please try using the search function to save repetitive subjects being brought up. Go here http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1179381-pc-specs/

Theres plenty of information on that topic to help you through exactly what your needing.

And To be honest - Noone can know how this game will run, Until its been tested directly - Ive says this countless times....Its all about the CODING!

ntel? Core 2 Duo SU7300 Processor (1.8GHz (Overclocked), 800 MHz, 3MB Cache) - This will struggle with Brink.

Sorry to say - Everything else is fine, but 1.8Ghz is just too low!! You will "Maybe" be able to play on very low specs.

ouch i do agree with what you said on Alienware and the same with the codeing. but 1.8ghz should be fine too run the game depending on the settings he uses. its not like hes gona hit the max button and hope too get a pure 120 fps. right off the bat hes looking at 800x600 with med too low of not all low settings and again as you said its about the codeing.

Completely agree - But 1.8Ghz is JUST and nomore stretching the estimated of whats needed.

Playing on the suggested format of "Lowest" settings - Can bring terrible gameplay, Regardless whether his fps is 20-30.

Dont get me wrong, Each to there own - But i just couldnt justify playing this game on lowest settings, and enjoying it for its full capacity,

My advice would be to upgrade the processor - Or if you think you "Can".....(DO AT YOUR OWN RISK) - You could possibly try OverClock the CPU and push it too 2.0 / 2.2Ghz.

But my best bet would be to buy a new CPU - Everything else spec wise is fine, and you can pick up a nice Dual core 2.7+ Ghz very very cheap.

a dual core 1.8 is not a dual core 2.4 even overclocked, it won't run
it's no where near minimum spec

Meh, looks like I should be getting it for console seeing most of these replies. Wish I had money I could just build my own PC with. Ah, well I should be greatful I atleast have this laptop. it was a gift for graduation.

Anyway, thanks for all the help guys you most likely saved me from wasting money on a game I might not be able to run..

I suppose when u guys talking if u can run a game u mean in max out everything right?

Cause i see in every similar discussion so much debate about rigs and PC specs i really can't figure it out otherwise.I can run everything on my laptop, even Crysis 2 with no problem.

Of course as i said to other threads i am an old gamer and i really don't care that much about quality of graphics but i care for quality of gameplay and aesthetics of the game.

For the record my laptop is :

Intel Core i5 M430 @ 2.27 GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650

And i have seperate keyboard, mouse and connected to a HD monitor,so it feels exactly like a normal PC.

Not trying to get max I just want smooth gameplay is all not sure if i can achieve that on this laptop.
