Can't load game, get error

Post » Thu Jan 27, 2011 4:53 pm

I purchased Fallout 3 Game of the year edition..
I can’t even load the game...
I didn't realize that Windows 7 wasn't supported, should have researched it before purchase..
When I asked for help with the makers, was told too bad it’s not supported
I see that some people have been able to play it with Win 7 so I’m asking for somebody to help…

When I try and load the game I get this error

Error Code: -5006 : 0x8000ffff

First IF you need to. Try running it in compability mode for XP it does help. Now you may run into crashing and freezing use http://www.xpcodecpack.com/download and http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/ACE-Mega-CoDecS-Pack-Download-6778.html. Post results.

Thank you for the suggestion but it/they didn't work,
I tried running the program with every available compatibility mode,
I started with, win xp service pack 2, when that didn’t work I just started at the top, win 95 and tried each one, all the way thru vista…
I then downloaded each of the codex you suggested then tried I all again, with the result being the same.

First, I get the ‘install’ splash screen,
I click install
Then I get the error listed above…

Could the problem I’m having be a bad disk?
Or is it just my Win 7 not playing nice with the program?

Any other suggestions?
