As the title indicates, I can't start a new Skyrim game, or load an existing save. When I try to do either of those things, it doesn't crash.But instead it just sits at the loading screen until I force the game to close. I know it can't be a mod, because it was working perfectly fine with the last mod I added, then out of no where it CTD'ed, I try to load an existing save up and it is stuck at the load screen, the same thing happens for a new game. I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to do, I've tried verifying the integrity of the game cache, I did that and it still doesn't work. I tried removing the last mod I installed, and that didn't work. I really hope someone here knows what to do, this has never happened before!

Have you tried to load more than a couple of saved games? Quicksave or Autosave? You may need to try a save from a ways back.

Any error messages, like that floating point integer message? Or does it just hang forever and day?

Every saved game I have I tried to load, and none of them work. There are also no error messages. It just sits there doing nothing but giving me the normal image and text on a loading screen, the difference being it never progresses past the loading screen.

OK, are you seeing this never ending loading screen before you can select a save?

In any event, try this, go into the Save Directory and move the most recent save out of that folder (My Games/Skyrim/Saves) and see if the game lets you load a save.

When a save gets corrupted the game can act like this as it tries to load the screen shot from the save file it will hang the launcher like you are experiencing.

I don't know how, or why. But it appears the saves do load, as does a new game. But after about 10 minutes or so.

I've experienced exactly the same thing, but it wasn't for Skyrim, instead it was Empire Total War that had a corrupted save.

So, should I try and delete my existing saves and start fresh? It won't be much of a problem the characters I have haven't progressed far into the game.

Yes, you should at least try to start a new game and http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/3676-skyrim-information-baked-into-saves/ is anthor reason why a gamesave can be corrupted.

Or maybe only delete your most recent save. Also see if the saves load properly if you disable that last mod you installed.
