Well.... seems Crysis2.exe is trying to use IRC channels (at least, that's what McAffee thinks). I noted an error in my log (didn't want to disable the entire anti-virus if I didn't need to) and it said communication was terminated from Crysis2.exe because there is a block rule set up.
I got it to let me log in to the gamesas.com site from in the game (selected the multi-player and put in my nickname and pass from this site).. to do that, I had to open the "on access scan properties" and modify the IRC block rule to "exclude Crysis2.exe" from the rule.
Logged right in after that.. no reboots, firewalls up, etc. etc. (I also recreated the firewall rules as per one video, but that didn't seem to help so I doubt anything on the Windows side matters, but anti-virus software seems to be killing this game's login).
Hope that helps someone. I've seen some seemingly crazy ideas (like 16 char strong passwords) that just make no sense. But Anti-Virus killing IRC stuff did.
